If anyone wants to try before I do. All updates will be posted here.
Once you change the file extension to .zip, the zipped folder includes instructions, eeprom, flash, jeepers.
CHANGE THE .TXT to .ZIP. This file will be deleted after it shows up in the files section or when it does not work. Just giving people a head start till I get to test it.

That way if there are any problems you can fix them.
Please post some information or instructions too for the newby's.

Sorry. Once you open the zipped folder the instructions are there. If the file is proved to not work. I will delete it.

No Problem, it is just nicer to have some info and not go blind into something like that.
You did not give any idea what it is at all ?
With so many new programs / hacks running around it would be nice to know what it is.

It's pretty stright forward. Load the file onto you atmega with jeepers, which is provided, there are instructions for that. They are very simple and to the point anyone should be able to follow them. Then load the flash and eeprom for your receiver. There is a readme on how to edit them. Again very stright forward. Try readin the readmes and trying it first. Then ask when you have a specific problem. It gets old when people ask to be spoon fed.

ok, i've always used atmega in the old days but never had to flash the receiver b4. I had mine setup prior to recieving it. At anyrate, can someone direct me to a read me as to how i go about flashing a reciever - i have never done this and think now it's a good time to learn.
I've looked and searched but I couldn't find any specific directions.

Having a few troubles here. Working with a 2800. I have all my original TSOPs backed up and here is where the fun comes in. The build config sticker says CANJ yet when I look at the tsops in any flash edit, they all show CANA. Even when I reflash and force a new update, they come back to CANA. Regardless of what combination I put on the receiver, CANA, CANJ or leave it alone, the receiver will not power the LNB's. I get some plug in phone line prompt, a loud click, then no signal. When I flash it back to original, no prompt, no click, and the LNBs are powered.
The atmega loaded fine.
Any Ideas on this one.

Edit with flash software and try the backwards code trick, using JNAC or ANAC for a code and see if that gets you anywhere, I would try the JNAC first, as thats the original build of your IRD.

Just to be clear here all of these instructions pertain to jeepers... and you just put your IRD and BOXKEYS in like you always did correct and just alter the file as described in the instuctions and program the card. Why do you need hex editor, Jeepers will write it to the card won't it? Thanks in advance.

Hey I have a 3900 too, do you have to convert it to a 2700 and if you did, could you tell me how and what you edited, I did it a long time ago to go to bev I think but I can't remember how.. Thanks in advance
sukh77
11-15-2005, 08:11 PM
Gap - You need jkeys for IRD. Jeepers is for Atmega.
Primenal - I'm not sure what you might have to do. The 3900 or 2700 file might be for Rom10 not atmega. You will have to check that.

Step2: Open The TSOP In FlashEdit And Go To The Advanced Section And Change Your Build Config To Match The Receiver (what is the TSOP)
Step4: Flash Tsop Image To receiver (How do i do this)

Just like I once said about the girls upon entering 8th grade - this is a good development.
The TSOP flash for the 4900 doens't jivve with my 4900... it's shutting off the power to the LNBs and I get no signal, but I can confirm it works with a 301-10.

Is there any way that you can erase this program off of the atmega once it's on? I have tried a bunch of times and keep getting errors with erasing either the flash or eeprom. Has changing the fuse/byte settings got anything to do with this? If I try the alternative chip erase it says that it has erased it but it's far to quick of an erase for me to believe that it really is blank. When I try reprogramming the flash and eeprom I get errors also.
No biggy but would like to get back into this card if possible.

Are you sayiong the Alt Chip erase will get you into the Atemga after loading this file?
It works!!!!!!!!!! I used the dp 301-10 Flash on my 301-10( If the first 2 numbers of your B C are the same you don't have two change anything) the B C of the 301 file is EAGA and my receiver is EAFJ. I saved my flashes then erased and flashed the two files from the dp-301-10 file....programmed the eeprom......I had already did my atmega last night with the files from this thread.....I plugged it in with out sat feed for 3mins........and sure enough the good old playboy channel came on with picture and sound. Thanks to everyone involved!!!! You guys are amazing!!!!! Keep up the good work

A couple guys on another forum can't get back into their Atmegas. I would suggest doing as LittleBear posted, and use alternate fuse settings (above)
I did the alt chip erase and it erased really fast, So I don't think it worked. I also tried to write the fuse bit back to what little bear said to but still no go.If I would have know this was gonna happen I would have never wrote it to my 128.

Wannago I got it. Morpheux I am using an atmega that I made. I followed the schmatic in the down load section. I have a adaptor that plugs into the atmega and then plugs into the db25 port. I know home made. But it did work for almost a year, all the way to the end of N1. I am the type of guy that has to make everything. I don't like to buy anything when I can make and have fun doing it.

READ the 'read me' txt file. You just have to modify your eeprom with the build configuration that is on the mother board.
SAVE YOUR ORIGINAL TSOPS AND EEPROM

dog,
a guy at rom10x said it isn't a problem with the file, it's to do with the voltage output of the LPT port of some computers. He posted a link to modding the Atmega loaders, but I really don' t think that's the problem.
Did you try what that other guy did by using fbprg? (it was in my second pm to you)

Yeah, didn't work. wouldn't let me load the hex file in either one. fbprg is for emu, That program is set up for the 2313 programer. But I tried it any ways. Got nothing to lose now. If worse comes to worse I can always order another atmega128 chip and solder it in. Then the problem will be solved.

The Readme is very brief, but exact. The other main thing you must do is change the IRD's EE and TSOP to the nodified bins. Not all models are available yet, but the popular ones are in the download section.

Have you tried another computer? Maybe it IS something to do with the voltage of the LPT port.

:) I used the files posted by Mudbug kid earlier (Thank you for uploading these) in this post and everything is working like a charm on a 2800. Here's what I did, hope this helps somebody.
1. Make a back-up of the original flash and the epprom (just a good practice)
2. Fire up Jkeys and flash the receiver with the file provided.
3. Read the newly written flash to verify good programing. (I also wanted to know what the new receiver number and build config were.) Jkeys gave "CSCD" as the build. If everything looks good proceeded.
3. Open Hex workshop 4.23 and load the epprom image provided in the folder. In that program there is an option in the tool bar which looks like a little flash light. That allows you to find a particular bit of code in all that hex mess. click on the flash light and select under type: Text String and under Value: CSCD it should highlight all instances of when the build config occurs. It happens only once near the end of the file. On the right hand column change the CSCD to whatever your build conf. is. The hex values on the left will automatically change. Save this new file and call it something like "2800 epprom fixed build "
4. Using jkey write that epprom to the receiver
5. Done with the hardware part.
The programing part of the fix is relatively simple and well laid out in the read me. I haven't tried to get back into the card so cannot comment on some of the issues raised as far as being locked out. Looks like this is limited to only certain jumperless type of atmega models.
Results: some channels were coming in fine others were locked. Someone had placed a lock on the reciever so I had to dump the memory to find out what the password was. Password on this file was 2177. I suppose you could also just jtag the thing again and create a virgin epprom and write back to the receiver, but I had enough playing with the jtag for one day.
Did a check switch and all was golden. a few locals, porn, and PPV!
ONE question though. Does anyone know how to change the timezone or if we can add locals?

Installed the Atmega N2 fix on my 301-010 using an Atmega-EFA and all works great.
All channels open. Movies, PPV, Porn, everything.
The only problem I had was I needed to perform a check switch to get all channels to come up. Since then everything is coming in 100% as far as I can tell so far.

Can anyone confirm either or both of these let you erase your card without problems? Does the atmega come up with them or is it sketchy? The readme suggests you use FC AE 81 FF, If the codes above work better it should be stickied or the procedure files updated.. I've read mixed responses from the eeprom locking to it being fully erasable. Just looking for confirmation if anyone can give any.

I used to run into the same problem with my atmegas, i'll just bring them to the office and they would program fine (will take almost 15 hours to lock at about 80% in my home computer). I ended up getting a 16 pin programmer and have never had any trouble with them.

use the jkeys software. After your into the IRD it should have Flash programming and EEPROM programming available on the bottom right. Make sure you do a backup, or have a working TSOP/EEPROM at your disposial if something happens to go wrong to recover with. Don't disconnect anything until your 100% positive you did it correctly, or you may make a doorstop.

Followed the instructions for the Atmega 128 fix, and the 2800 ird will not get passed the acquireing satelite signal message. Left it alone for awile,(1/2 hour) came back to it, and the message was still there. Do we have to edit the tsop that is provided to match the ird's build config, or by editing the eeprom that is provided takes care of the irds build config, so I don't have to worry about the provided tsop matching the ird.

Are you sayiong the Alt Chip erase will get you into the Atemga after loading this file?
What I did was alt chip erase, then normal erase, then the Atmega was good to go..... Might want to load a JrRoba flash and hex to make sure all code is gone.
Anyone locked out of there atmega I found the way to fix it. I started a theard called if your locked out of your atmega post here. So if you are check it out.

Can't seem to get my 301.013 single TSOP going. Flashed it several times with the "4meg flash" files. Have changed the build numbers. I get to the info screen but can not get any signal......Flashed a 301.010 the exact same way (except with 2 flashes) and I'm wide open. Any ideas about the 301.013 single??
Oh and those of you getting locked out of your Atmegs...try using the "Atmega repair" file in downloads. Works everytime for me.....

I've heard of doing an alternative chip erase in jeepers, jumping pins 1 and 63 while erasing and using juniorroba.
Havent tried any of this myself.
These are definetly ways to get your atmega back. I've used 1 and 63 pin few times, also used juniorroba.
i have a question, im writing my atmega right know and i have to wait an hour till my card is programmed? last step "Wait for Hour Glass to go away"
i click write and nothing happend. thanks
and i would like to know if someone has the tsop for my 2700 ird?the first time it did the same to me nothing work error card not for this receiver ,reprogramed card thin it said insert card.i went eraesed card 3 times then programed atmega 128 flash and eeprom 3 times with juniorroba then erased atmega 3 times reprogramed with new fix works like a charm every thing open watching tv .thats 3100-10

Alt chip erase just worked for me. ALSO are u guys using the 301 file that I posted or everyone is using the rom10 version.
I am, and so is Skinerd. The 301-010 flashes work just fine; the 301-013 flashes do NOT work. Confirmed by both of us.
I tried programming the cards using both the recommended fuse bits and the alternative ones posted in this thread. No difference in performance, and alternative erase worked just fine on both my cards.
And as a side note - having to run the eeprom through a hex editor to change the build configuration is a waste of time. Just write the supplied eeprom as is - it's a virgin eeprom that will conform itself automatically to whatever build you have.

Ok so what do you think the reasoning is for no audio? and some freezing, i put the 4900 tsop onto a 3900 but that shouldn't make a difference should it?
This works 100% of all times on jumper type atmegas.
1) Set your jumper on in the atmega
2)hit "Erase Flash/EEprom
3) When it say's "Erasing EEprom pull the jumper a couple of times until the message "Flash/EEprom Erased Successfully" apears.
4) Erase again with the jumper on
5)Voila! Atmega Unlocked again
One more note: The locking of the atmega it's caused by the "Lock Bit Setting of "FC". Do not used this setting. It will lock the atmega again. Insted use "FF" on that setting only, the rest stays the same.
Your Fuse Lock settings should be:
FF AE 81 FF

Guyz,
Followed the read me to the "t". When I read the box keys originally the build config read "DAPD" on the motherboard and "DAPA" in jkeys.
I re-wrote the eeprom using "DAPA" with hex workshop.
Programmed the tsop with file provided. DID NOT EDIT TSOP.
Programed Eeprom with modded file. Re-read with Jkeys and the build config changed to "DALA".
Programmed the atemga with the alt fuse bites so as not to lock the card.
Plugged in the receiver for 5 minutes then streamed.
The "power-on" light just keeps cycling on and off every 45 seconds or so. No video no sound. Just black screen. Pulled the card to see if I can see the receiver info. Nada.
I believe this is a memory problem. But not sure.
Any Ideas???

I tried this on my 301-013 with Twosteps suggestion not to use hex edit on the eeprom to change the build, and all I get is black screen w/header. 101 and 500 have no audio. Once I figure out how to use some kind of editor to change the eeprom build I'll let you know how I make out..
Steindude....you weren't supposed to stream your IRD, just let it sit for a couple of minutes, then hook up the sat cable. The how to files provided explain everything.

To clean your Atmega, find Jeepers 2.1.2.20 and run the alt chip erase.

Atmega running on 2800. I have tried the 301 file I posted but my 301 has a signal problem, it comes in and out.
Hexwork shop is very easy. Open up the eeprom in it go to the right look for build config (ie: DAPA) To change it to DAHA just edit it. Edit the P to a H.

Do not modify anything, you need the flash's ird # for it to work.
do not program using full monty, you have to write the flash and eeprom separately (read the instructions in the zip)

Usually no signal is cause by eeprom mismatch. Did you edit the eeprom in hexworkshop.
If it is not an exact match on some IRD's you will need to do edit the build config on a flash to match your IRD you can do this in flashedit. Then you will need to edit the eeprom using hexworkshop.

The instructions the receiver uses to obtain the sat signal are in the flash, so a corrupt or mismatched flash will cause the no signal problem, since 301-010 will accept any 301-010 flash and eeprom, I would say the flash is prolly corrupted.
I loaded the 301-010 Atmega flash and eeprom UNEDITED, into an EAED stickered 301, worked flawlessly.

don't put a 4900 TSOP on a 3900 ....you know better than that ...
If you don't have a build that matched the provided Atmega TSOP files, then:
--Read your TSOP with Jkeys, save them.
--Run the RSA_Atmega file for your model in Flashedit_beta4.
--Save the modified TSOP files,
--Write back to IRD ..
You don't have to use the provided TSOP files.....modify your own ...!!!!

There are a lot of people on other forums with the same problem. But.......
I just came across the fix!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I dont take credit......found on another forum.
In flash edit-under build data (below Build config:i.e.CAPA) the area that says build data MUST match your original TSOP. Min just needed two #'s changed. After that, it sat on aquiering sat for about 5 mins, but then came in!!! I also am getting signal strengtn on the instalation page.
Any questions, I'll stay on here for a while-just ask.

Did you have teh same problem? What did you do to fix it?
Because I tried many pfg's and hex and eeprom with the suggested fuse. But still i get error 019.
Your problem is you are using a pfg. There is no pfg. Did the directions mention any pfg. Only the hex and eeprom files. then set the fuse to FF AE 89 FF

HEEEEEEEEEELP Somebody knows whats happening??
know im trying to flash my 310 010 and give me errors.
using jkeys 2.0.1, flash programming then under chip/sector prog, program and show program at 0x7ff80000? yes checks that flash is not blank continue? yes select my tsop flas and give me a message "error perform flash write request " then "error programming flash at offset 0x7ff80000.
Just reprogram no big deal. Read the warning that pops up. If you continue to have problems please start another thread describing in detail the problem, and what you have tried. Might get some help if you read the jtag guide at www.bellexpress.vu We don't mind to help. This thread is more about if the fix is working for you or not.

Just to make sure I have this correct; I have already modded my IRD and ROM10 card which works fine ( watch TV). If i want to try to use the Atemga vs the Rom10 card, I CANNOT use the modded TSOP that I already have in my IRD? In otherwords you have to use a different modded TSOP which only works with the Atmega.
Please let me know.

Correct! Use the TSOP for your IRD only, in the TSOPs provided.

Can someone tell that there were 2 files for IRD, one for TSOP and second for EEPROM. We have to change TSOP build config using flashedit and eeprom thru hex. software. Now there are two other files with ATMEGA too according atmegan2 fix. do we have to change those file build config too before programming to atmega or leave like that????

Just to let you know, for 301.10/3100 just flash the ird with the provided files.
Build CFG and bootstrap DOESN"T matter at all.
In Jkeys go to flash programming, erase flash1(u22), then program it,
next erase flash2(u23) then program, then close flash programing and go to eprom programing and program the eprom .
That's all to it.
Do not exit the Jkeys or reboot the receiver between the steps.
It takes appx~9 min total.

I have had full guide, but when I tune into channel, got card not authorized. Did check switch-before and after- same result. I decided to read more and found some were using a pfg file in jeepers and some say none needed. Just prog with files provided- seperatly and no full monty. I tried this. Now I get card not valid w/reciever(2700). Any suggestions? Thanks in advance!

don't put a 4900 TSOP on a 3900 ....you know better than that ...
If you don't have a build that matched the provided Atmega TSOP files, then:
--Read your TSOP with Jkeys, save them.
--Run the RSA_Atmega file for your model in Flashedit_beta4.
--Save the modified TSOP files,
--Write back to IRD ..
You don't have to use the provided TSOP files.....modify your own ...!!!!
where can the RSA_Atmega file be downloaded?

anyone out there who can answer my post....
Just got my 301.013 (1 TSOP) to work with the ATMEGA N2 fix. everything wide open. Uploaded working TSOP and EEPROM file in the ATMEGA section (if the mods allow it through).
Use FLASHEDIT to put in the 4 letter build of yout IRD into the FLASH bin, use hex editor to do same in EEPROM.
Then load both into IRD, program ATMEGA N2 (you can also use a pfg called WIZARI, if you like)
Have fun!

Mods have nothing to do with the files section, we can't even download shit any better then you can unless we pay for VIP
it is automatic
Takes 30 to 60 minutes for the server to cycle them into the list.

Did you try using the program wall-v2 to erase the flashes and rewrite? If not give it a try. Also, sometimes when I wasn't showing any power to the receiver I would connect the sat feed to the receiver and it seemed to make a difference getting jkeys to work. I would much rather use wall-v2 than jkeys, has an excellent readme in the zip. When I erase flash with either program, say flash1, after it is erased I reprogram with the new flash before erasing flash2 and also reflash that before writing to eeprom. Hope this helps.

Never turn power off when jtagging. You must finish erasing and rewriting before you ever remove jtag or turn power off.

Please read my post about the sat feed carefully. What I meant was lease it hooped up to your receiver while your using jkeys if you have a power problem, it may help let jkeys erase and write.

markman, I had that problem for two days, if I were not almost bald now I would have pulled my hair out, but I used wall not wall2 to write the u23 bin then the 22 bin then programed my atmega and lo and behold it works. Finally. Makes you feel good when it all comes together, keep trying.
Wall has a step by step instruction with it, download a copy and try it, I also used wall to write to my receiver, I am using 301-010. Channel changing a little slow but I can live with that, I am watching TV
PS: Erase flash (each) first then program new flash to receiver, should work, if the message does not say "writing" something is wrong, restart write flash and try it again.

That means the entire flash is corrupted including the boot sector which never gets erased.
The boot sector has to be replaced using wall2 to get it loading at normal speed
Read the wall instructions on re-flashing this section (the first 60,000 bytes)
Then erase & re-flash the entire TSOP at normal speeds (3 min each)

OldTex how did editing the buil in flashedit do anything.I have tried that at your suggestion and tried several different flashes on 4 different 301.013s and still can't get past the black screen. What files are you using? The ones with all different receiver flashes in thr folder?
I start with that -
Jtag 301-13, and save it's TSOP - note it's build.. DAHC, what-ever.
Then open the 301-13 4 meg TSOP fiel in flash edit, edit the build config you got from JTAG. Save this. Then create a virgin eprom file using flash edit.
Connect VID Mod, Jtag 301-13, erase flash, program, program eprom, shut off JKeys, shut off IRD, disconnect VID MOD.
Connect to TV, leave ATmega out for a bit. Make sure you get searching for Sat Signal. Insert Atmega, make sure no errors. Let it sit a bit, then connect up sat cable, run check switch, watch TV.

The light doesn't always come on when you Jtag, and you don't need to push the power button everytime either. Just plug it in, so that the circuit board has power. Are you getting any info in Jkeys screen when you Jtag it? If you are, then that means evrything is OK. Try erasing the flash again, then try programming it again. I have myself an ignorant 301-010, that keeps telling me (when I try to program the flash) that a certain 0x7fff..whatever is "limited" for programming, so obviously I didn't erase the flash fully or something. I'll have to try Jkeys specifically for the 301-010 or better yet Wall. My power light also doesn't doesn't come on, but it still "reads" in Jkeys, so I know I'm good to go. Hope this helps you out.

Everything is out there to get your 301-13 going. I have gotten 5 (FIVE) 301-13s going today for friends. All channels open, PPV, porn.
Read, read again.
For the 301-13, you WILL NEED the VID MOD connected. If you do not know how to do this, download the instructions located here and everywhere else on the 'web.
I repeat, the VID MOD will allow all the flash to be erased, and reloaded. Without this, you'll get problems.

can someone please let me know how can i test my receiver, it won't trun on. it is 2800
It is really hard to screw up a 2700 or 2800 model receiver, they are the easiest for anything, my advice erase the flash, load on one that you know works and if the receiver works. load on the atmega flash, i loaded it on 2 2700 and they work fine

I would think so. That's most likely why you're not getting a reading. You should post your problem seperatley for people to help you out, and save this thread for the "atmega test " replies. Best of luck to you. You'll figure it out. I always do....eventually.

erotic1 ,
i use 3900..
you can get a few diffrent 3900 builds at
rom10x..
change the build to the one on your ird.. and change the build in the eeprom for the one on your ird.. and it will work.
good luck.

I will say I just finished resurrecting my ird with the atmega 128.
I have to admit that I didn't get the tsop or eeprom files from here...but I will verify that it can be done.
I would post the files that I used ..but I would want them to be public.
It does freeze a little...but not much and it tooka few tries to get it to work, but here is another one to add to the list.
I think this is my first post here...but I post else where mostly.
Thanks,
Hope this helps,

I'm having trouble trying to do a 301-10. I've followed the instructions, and let the ird sit for 20 min, put in the atmega let it sit, hook up the sat cable and bang it acts like it's downloading.
I can't turn it on, can't turn it off until if finishes blinking, an then all I get is the pre view channel and the rest all black.
Anyone have any idea what i'm doing wrong?
Thanks

I'm up and running on a 301-013!!!! Twostep just posted the link in the forums.
I've been battling with a black screen w/header for two days. I didn't know sqwat about hex edit, and still don't, But I found these files complete ready to go, no editing of any kind involved and presto....TV land!!! I can't believe my eyes. I had to turn to the porn channels just to prove to myself that it indeed is wide open. Thanks to all involved!!!

Here's a stupid question. Can you shut off the IRD with this fix, or is it like the AVR-X, where you have to have it "on" all the time? Thanks
another sucessful story with a happy ending

And what forums would those be please ,we have quite a few here .Thank you.
the ird (reciever) has to be plugged in for you to jtag it, even tho the power lite isn't on, internally the unit is actially on, so yes, you need it plugged into a/c whole you jtag
