I just bought a used PVR510 ID 011 with yellow card. I have searched and read posts and guide, but they were meant for N1. I have found one post with recentlly have a fs script, but it is not clear how to use it. Anyways, this is what I have done: 1 Vmod 2 jtag and fix the IRD to accept the blue card What are the next steps to get the IRD to work with rom 10? Thanks...

I don't mean to hijack your thread, but I'm in the same place you are. (I recently bought a 510 on eBay and I'm about to modify it.)
But I'm wondering.....
Is it mandatory to do the vid mod now?
I was thinking that it was done only to make the receiver accept a "blue" card.
(Isn't the IRD seeing a "yellow" card once the ROM 10 has Penga's bin on it?)
If data is undisturbed in the locked TSOP memory segment (by not doing a vid mod) can't we then apply flashes without the write errors so many are experiencing?

Take of the cover and check the flash chips (U6 & U7) if they are DT then you don't have to do the vmod. If it is GT then you have to do vmod so you write to it.

I've got the GT chips, but why change data in the locked segment to force the IRD to accept a ROM 10 now?

i dont think you need to do that as the systme will think the rom10 is a rom102. you will need to do a vid mod inorder to write the modified tsop to the unit.

For those who don't know, and apperantly that's quite a few, the vid mod was NOT to set the receiver up for a blue card.......
The vid mod was to enable you to set the receiver up for a blue card by unlocking the last (locked) sector of the flash, which contained the address of the needed change.
So, that's what the vod mod does, nothing more, just gives you FULL access to the flash chips.

Thanks for that skinerd. Now, given what you just said is true, let me ask the following:

1. Is a vid mod necessary on an unmodified 510, now that the Nag 1 blue cards are dead?

2. Since no data has been changed in the locked TSOP sector, shouldn't jkeys be able to flash the chip without error? (If address containing D500 has not been altered)

I'd like to avoid the extra work if possible, and reduce the risk of ruining my IRD.......

You should be able to mod the receiver w/o the vid mod, even DN can't alter the last sector, You will get erros in jkeys but just ignore them.
OJ1 jumper will be most helpful tho, it prevents DCU peek errors.

I have a new 510 on the way, I'll try w/o vid modding, just the OJ1 jumper, see how it goes.

Without vidmodding, I just reflashed a 301-013 @ P205 with a P058 flash, I got errors, but it stream updated to P208.......I am assumoing this will also work with a 510, I'll have to wait until I get the new one to try...

Looking for a virgin 510 IRD?

simple for 510, read the tsop flash check sector 7FFFFFAC and if it says D500 it needs vid mod, if says 0000 then you are fine for the avr-x (which apparently does not work wth 510 yet), but if you want to write the tsop for reflash or whatever you will most probobly need vmod, i say dont take the chance of screwing the flashes up and the box, do the simple 12volt vidmod, oj1 jumper and ground and be happy as hell, thats what i did to my 510 and i can write and rewrite the whole tsop whenever i feel like it, no errors no problems. you can read that sector of the tsop on any dp box. a couple minutes of extra reading and work but it pays off if you ask me, i screwed up some 301.013 by not checking for wether vid mod is needed, and the tsop writes had errors and needless to say those boxes are done. i knwo better to chekc these days.
