I got a 2700 receiver here I would like to open up (physically). Can anyone guide me on how to?

It looks like the black lid slides forward off the silver housing, like a "tongue and groove" setup, but I can't get it to budge - tried everything but vasaline and a hammer. I got the faceplate off no problems, the only screw I removed is the one in the back center. Can someone help me out? I have to be missing something dumb.

Take the back screw out Then the cover slides toward the front. Ifit has never been taken apart they come off hard at first, Yo will probably need to pry it with a screwdriver.Don't pull it by the plastic front face or it breaks right off, Just cheap plastic tabs that break.

Yeah. They can be a tight fit. There's only one screw so you are alright there. It just takes some patience and a little loosening up with a screwdriver. It will slide off eventually.

thanks for the fast replies. I thought I was on the right track, and it has been taken apart before (not by me - theres a lock in it that I got to modify) but I didn't want to end up with all the outputs sticking off the black lid, and the rest intact. I will get out the vaseline and some pry bars. :)

Well, yes on some of them, but on others you have to remove the front (plastic) cover and be very careful when you do that. To remove the front cover: it lifts up as it slides forward. The tabs for the cover are very prone to breaking so make sure you lift and do not try to make it come forward. It will do that on it's own as you lift it up, IMHO!

Too late, the guy who put the lock in seemed to beat me to the chase on snapping the legs.. Electrical tape does a nice trick at holding it back on though :)
