3900 converted to 2800

Curious if somebody tested a 3900 modded to 2700 for atmega testing.
In public download section there is a how to for the bin change in 3900, but willing to know if it still work for n2. I'm interested in atmega.

The two have different size tsops. 3900 is 2mb,2800 is 512k

I now that, but there is a way to trick the bigger flash to trick the processotr to see the receiver as 2 meg as is in 2800. Was in public section last year, I'll try that myself, but was just curious to see if someone else did it.
