hey snowbird the atmega fix has nothing to do with tcfd
this is a different method
hey this is a c/p from some one else hope it helps you
I am posting this because there a crap load of people asking how do i do this and that! Here is a step by step for the atmega fix. This is what I did to get a 2800 IRD and 3900 IRD going. If anyone would like to add anything or if I forgot anything please add to this thread. I am only doing this because I have a hell of alot of time on my hands. If a moderator would like to move this thread to the how to s then please do .All links to the necessary files are contained in this post and should be gathered first. Thanks Mikil
Ok here we go!
You must understand the concepts of what we are doing here .Two Seperate Procedures!!!
1)We are programming the atmega card (writing a flash and eeprom and changing the Lock Bits)
2)We are going to re write the new flash ( Tsop file ) and EEprom to your IRD ( reciever)
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Programming the ATmega 128 Card:
Open the Jeepers program supplied in atmega fix zip file. You will get an error message when attempting to open.Click Ok.This will be the only error message you should get. while doing anything in Jeepers. If you get any other errors you will have to trouble shoot. ( bad connections, problem with programmer , dirty contacts on card etc.)
1)First off we will clean our cards.Click on Atmel , Atmega 128 and go down and click on Alternate Chip Erase.Clean Card 5 times.
2)Click on Atmel , Atmega 128,and go down to Erase /Flash EEprom.Clean this also 5 times.
3) NOW YOUR CARD IS CLEAN!
4)Now! Click on Atmel , Atmega 128
5)Click Write Flash
6)You will be prompted to what flash you are going to write. Find the one supplied with the Tomico file( hex file) you downloaded .Click on it and it will write the flash to your atmega. You will see it write on the bottom progress screen.
7)Now we are going to write the EEprom. It is in the same Tomico file (eep.)
8)Click on Atmel, Atmega 128 and go down to Write EEprom.Once again you will be prompted to what eeprom file you want to write. The EEprom will be in the same Tomico file you downloaded. You can watch it write in the progress screen once again .
9)Now we are going to change the Lock Bits!!!
10)Click on Atmel, Atmega 128 and go down to Lock Fuse/Settings.there will be a screen pop up click on yes.
11)These are the settings you must make sure are checked off correctly.
Lock Bits
BLB12
BLB11
BLB02
BLB01
Look at the bottom and you will see the letters FC if you have done this correctly.
Fuse Lo
BODLEVEL
SUT1
CKSEL3
CKSEL2
CKSEL1
Look at the bottom and you will see the letters AE if you have done this correctly.
Fuse Hi
OCDEN
BOOTRST
Look at the bottom and you will see the number 81 if you have done this correctly.
Fuse Extended
M103C
WDTON
Look at the bottom and you will see the letters FF if you have done this correctly.
If all was done correctly this is what should be at the bottom. FC AE 81 FF
Anyhting other than this is WRONG!Take your time and do this correctly.
After you have double checked that all the information is accurate Click write! When the hourglass has finished ( takes a second or two) You can exit the Jeepers Program.
CONGRATULATIONS!You have now finished programming your Atmega Card.Put it aside for now.

PREPARING YOUR NEW TSOP AND EEPROM FILE FOR YOUR IRD!
IMPORTANT! First off I cant stress enough how important it is that you make a backup copy of your original TSOP bin file (s) and EEprom and put it in a safe place such as a file on your desk top incase you may need it later. If you do not know how to Jtag then I recommend you do some reading on this forum and learn how to first. You will need three programs to do this procedure Flashedit,HexEditor and JKEYS.Make sure you have the correct JKEYS version that works with your particular model of IRD ( receiver)
Here we go!!!!
1) First we will remove your IRD (receiver) cover and look for a four letters called the build config letters ( number) This is a sticker on the board usually up at the front of the IRD (receiver)(Example: My 3900 has CLCD ).Write your letters down so you dont forget them.
2) Open the Flashedit program.Pick your type of receiver in the drop down box.Click on the top three dots and open the supplied Tsop ( Flash)(s) that are supplied here( links below) that are for your particular model of IRD( receiver)
3)Click on advanced and then click open. You will see a crap load of information.Find the Build Config. Letters( bottom left handside) and change them to what you wrote down from your receiver but change the last letter to an A. Example:My Config Letters were CLCD I will change it to CLCA.Dont forget to use CAPITAL LETTERS! Not clca
4)If you notice something called CRC and it is in the red then click on it and it will go green again.
4a) MAKE SURE TO CHANGE BUILD DATA LINE 1 FROM 01 02 to 00 02.
5)Click save as and put this New Flash(TSOP file) in a place you can easily find it later.Hint: I usually make a New Folder on my desktop named New Flash or something of that nature. Note:This will be your New TSOP bin file you will be writing back to your IRD (receiver) later.
6)OK!Now onto our EEprom!Open the Hexeditor program (Link for file below).Click on file then open and find the EEprom that was supplied for your particular model of IRD ( receiver) It will be in the same file as the Tsop flash was.
7)After you have entered the EEprom file into HexEditor you will notice on the far right that there are 4 confi letters.Change these letters to your config letters Example:My Config Letters were CLCD so I would input CLCA in CAPITAL LETTERS .Not clca
8)After you have changed the config numbers then click on file and save as, and then save the file to the same place you have saved the last Tsop flash we programmed.
9) NOTE:This step is only OPTIONAL and you do NOT have to do this if you do not want to! In the instructions that are supplied with these programs it claims you can do an optional reverse of the build config Number ( letters) Example:My config is CLCA so I can reverse it to ACLC. I have not attempted to do this and do NOT know if works or not. If anyone wants to quote me on this please do.I do know my way does work.
CONGRATULATIONS!You have now made a new Tsop (flash)(s) and EEprom file.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
WRITING BACK THE NEW TSOP ( FLASH) AND EEPROM TO YOUR RECEIVER!
Once again, I would like to stress, that if you do not have basic knowledge on Jtagging please do some reading .Do NOT attempt to do this otherwise and remember there are voltages in your IRD (receiver) that can kill or hurt you so BE CAREFULL!!!There are plenty of how to's on this great forum. If you are not comfortable in making a Jtag then please visit our sponser( www.greendish.com (http://www.greendish.com/)) and purchase the necessary equipment.
Here we go!!!!!!!!Please dont forget to BACK UP( make copies) of your original Tsop bin (flash) and EEprom you may need them at a later date. Also you must have the proper JKEYS version for your particular model of IRD ( receiver) to be successfull.
1)Hook up your Jtag to your IRD (receiver) and then to your computer port. Make sure also that the necessary grounds are applied in your IRD( Example: 301-013 IRD R79 has to be grounded etc.) Look in the how to sections if your not sure or you WILL get errors.Plug in your IRD ( receiver) to the wall.
2)Open JKEYS and make sure all the necessary information is present, Box Keys, Ird # what model you have etc. NOTE:Write your box keys down if you have never done this. They are good to have for future reference if needed.I usually write them with permanant marker underneath IRD ( receiver)
3) Now that everythings working in JKEYS ,Click on Flash Programming then click the OK prompt. Look in the top left handside and you can see what the Flash you are about to erase.
4) Make sure Full is present( in the top right) and click erase, then ok. It will take about 30 to 45 seconds to erase. Do this procedure three times to make sure it is fully erased. Then if you have another flash ( make sure that is checked off in the upper left handside EXample:Flash1,Flash2)erase that also three times.
5) Now! Your Tsop(s) are clean and we are going to write the new Tsop bin(s) that we produced earlier on that you have saved in a safe place.Look again in the top left handside at what flash you are going to write back too.Click on program and go find the new Tsop ( flash) file we made earlier on . When you find it double click it and JKEYS will automatically start writing it back to your IRD. Go have a coffee or smoke. This will take a few minutes. After it is done it will say 100% complete.NOTE:If you have more than one Tsop file to write back to your receiver then you will have to repeat this procedure again.Make sure that the other Flash is checked off in the top left handside Example: Flash1 and Flash 2
6)After flashing your IRD (receiver)with the modified Tsop(s)s, go back in the J-Keys main screen and re-detect your IRD. Make sure your info is actually there and not garbage. If it's garbage, you've reversed the order of your TSOPS and have to re-erase & re-write to get them in the right order.
7) After you have successfully written back the new Tsop(flash) file(s) then you can close that screen by Xing it off in the upper right hand corner.
CONGRATULATIONS YOU HAVE SUCCESSFULLY RE -FLASHED YOUR TSOP(S)
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
WRITING YOUR NEW EEPROM FILE!!!
1) In JKEYS Click on EEprom Programming.
2)Click on Program.Go find the new EEprom file we made earlier on (should be with new Tsop file)
3)When you find it double click it and JKEYS will automatically write it to your IRD ( receiver) Note:It should only take about 30 seconds or so!
4)Close JKEYS, Unplug you IRD from the wall, disconnect the necessary ground points on your IRD (receiver)and disconnect your Jtag.Put the cover back on.
5) Insert your Atmega card into the receiver and plug it .
6) Wait 2-3 minutes before you hook up the satelite feed coax cable .
7)Click on the menu button and do the 6,1,1 to get to the satelite dish set up screen.Check off the correct setting according to what type of dishes you may have and do a switch check(this will take about ten minutes or so)
8)After switch check is complete and everything looks good just keep hitting the cancel button on your remote until the aquiring satelite screen popsup.
9) You should be good to go Enjoy FREE TV!!!!!
