i don't know if this will help , but i believe the guide info comes off the 119 bird . with my setup ( 310.010 , atmega , and tsop lock ) i get really good reception on transponder #3 ( spotbeam ) and when i set it to that , the guide comes through fairly quickly . if i let the reciver pick a transponder the downloading of the guide can stall , untill i manually change the transponder .
now if i could only make it stay on transponder #3 so i could get all the channels .

i'm not sure you can get the guide with 110 . anyone else want to comment ??
i'm near prince george , b.c. i am using a 28 " dish to hit 119 . but it's so low in the horizon , that some tree's about a 1/2 mile away are interfering with it .
i've got an older 33" starchoice dish i'm going to try in a few days .
i wonder if one of those old 8 foot dishes you see in peoples back yards , just sitting there , would work without overloading the reciever?
i've seen some 39 inch dishes on ebay , but for 100.00 + 50.00 shipping ( roughly ) it makes me wonder if there's something else a guy could use that might be cheaper .
i wonder if it might be possible to rig 2 dishes to focus a signal to one lnb ?

In Edmonton, get a couple of 3ft dishes, you'll catch 110 & 148 without any problem. Signal will be strong enough to resist rain fade.
