Hello,
Can the dish recorder(DVR510) be tested in anyway(atmega 128, ROM X card, ROM 10 card, etc)?
Can a jtag be used? If so, are there any schematics or info on jtag use for this IRD?
Thanks for any info that can be provided.

PS. Does anyone know when the the new recorder(900 something) will be available, and will that be able to be tested?

You must be refering to PVR 5100 (501) or 5800 (508). Yes, they can be jtagged and yes, Atmega, ROM, DSSREV all work with these models.
As for the 900 something...not sure.

Chapster,
Thanks for replying.
I mean a DVR510(120gig-100hrs). They are being sold with the new Dish systems.
The PVR508 is 80gig-60hrs.
The reason I am asking, if they can be tested, is because Dish keeps changing things everytime something new comes out. I have searched the forum, and can't find any info on the "510". I would hate to get one and not be able to "use it".
The ?-900-? is the next one coming, but I don't know when.

earth4,
Yes the 510 can be jtagged but the operation is useless because it will only accept Rom101-103 cards. Unlike the 501 and 508 you simply can't modify the firmware to accept any other card, yet. The file to jtag the 510 is at the dssftp.com dowloads page.

So by 'downgrading' do you mean that you lose the other 20 gb's of space or is this just for id purposes?

If anyone has found the way to successfully test the 510, it would be very helpfull if you would post some how-to's. It seems that some people have been able to use the MC but others are stalled. It seems that the blue cards are not useable?

Please help.

Can I just swap the 120 gig to an 80 gig without having to use Maxblast?

I tried switching the 120 gig Maxtor to an 80 gig Western Digital....It gave me a 311 error and says disk error on hard drive (041c) and gave me a 1-800....number. Do I have to swap the hard drive with another Maxtor or Seagate to make it work? Also after putting back the original hard drive it gave me the same error. Did I messed it up after the swap? I don't know what to do.....feedback please?
