Can HD on bev be captured with a dvb-s card?
My comp is a p3-800, can i just use a regular card like the twinhan 102g to capture the stream without playback (I have MYHD for .ts playback) or do i need a wintv nexus?
thanks,

Yes, HD is available on Bev with the dvb-s card. The issue is your processor. Generally, you need at least a 2.2G processor to handle HD. I have seen HD on the 82 degree sat for Bev, but I only have a 1.2G processor, so I can't watch without freezing.

Yes you can capture HD with any DVB-S card, it doesn't require much CPU power. Playing it back is a different story. If you can play it back with MYHD than you should be ok but if you can't then you don't have enough horse power to do it by software. Remember the captured stream is in a .mpg format not .ts. I don't have a MYHD card so I am not sure how it will handle a satellite HD stream, they can be a bit finicky at times. Give it a shot and let us know.
I have a Fusion HDTV USB version running on a 2.6GHz. It captures the local HD stream in ts format and playback fine. So, I guess the horse power is OK. I wonder that could I capturehe B*V HD stream with a Nexus card? Or do I need a software based card such as the Twinhan? Thank you.

You can capture the stream in software mode. Turn off video and record.
Then try the fusion for playback.

for those of you that are getting HD on bev using a dvb, could you please respond:
1-are you getting all the hd feeds? ( I heard that some of them are modulating in 8spk making it impossible to decode using current dvb cards)
2-what graphics card are you using?
3-which graph/codec are using?
4-what's your cpu speed and make?
5-how much hdd space does an hour of HD recording take?
6-are you getting the HD feeds off of nimiq 2 (82)?
Thanks!

1-are you getting all the hd feeds? ( I heard that some of them are modulating in 8spk making it impossible to decode using current dvb cards)
Bev has tested 8PSK in the past, but all of their HD is QPSK. Charlie uses 8PSK for almost all (all) their HD feeds.
2-what graphics card are you using?
9700 pro - but any mid level card and up will do
3-which graph/codec are using?
I can use most of them. My preferance is Intervideo.
4-what's your cpu speed and make?
P4 478 3.0 @3.3
5-how much hdd space does an hour of HD recording take?
It depends on the bitrate of the feed. The average is usually 8 - 10 gig per hour.
6-are you getting the HD feeds off of nimiq 2 (82)?
All of bev's HD feeds are on 82. There is very little other QPSK HD available unless you have a BUD.
You can capture the stream in software mode. Turn off video and record.
Then try the fusion for playback.
Thanks. Got the idea.
