Howdy all - any thoughts would be appreciated.

In the last week I got all my 301's, 3900's and 3700's running again. Finally got around to 501's this weekend. Did not realize what a convoluted mess I was getting into with them... Anyway:

Did the OJ1 jump, wiped flash1 and flash2 - rewrote flash2 with a modded P063 build (modded to DCED to match recvr bld).

Removed OJ1. Powered up and let it sit (no signal) for about 5 minutes.

Rejumped OJ1. Jtagged - wiped Flash 2 and rewrote with modded P304 bin and eeprom. This was a bin I got off hashhu from the n2 tsop downloads. Modded with my bld DCED. Same with the eeprom.

Removed OJ1. Powered up, let sit a few minutes, slipped in atmega with Tomico write and watched it reboot. Came up to sys menu - checked switch and found SW64 ok. came out of menu and went 021 insert card.

Rebooted and it came up 021 again. Went to Sys Info screen after a few minutes, reporting a good R00 number and S00 00000000 data. Finds 119 and 110. When I click next the screen goes to garbage and freezes - looks kinda like static.

I can boot with a yellow card and get thru everything up to "Card not authorized", but the sys info screen also freezes on that card when I click NEXT on the bottom of the screen.

Is this a corrupt tsop bin, or perhaps a mismatched bin? Or did I miss something in the above steps?

Anyone else done this who has some input, I'd appreciate it.

Peace!

Try not to mod the TSOP, find a true DCED image at 063, change IRD# and BK's, write to U7 and let in sit in the stream for 15 mins, it should update to P304. Then patch 501 .fs file to it and rewrite back to TSOP. This is what I did and it worked fine. Try using these files;

(THIS IS WHERE AFTER 5 MINS PLUG IN THE SAT SIGNAL AND UPDATE TO THE LATEST SOFTWARE, THEN YOU SAVE FLASH 2, MOD IT AND REWRITE IT BACK TO THE IRD) DID YOU UPDATE IT THROUGH THE STREAM AFTER YOU LET IT SIT FOR 5 MINS?????????????/ IF YOU DID'NT THIS IS WHERE YOU WENT WRONG.)

(YOU ARE SUPPOSED TO USE YOUR OWN CREATED P304 NOT A DOWNLOADED ONE)

SirDrinks and Indigo - you both seem to have nailed it for me. Two things I overlooked - guys I really appreciate the feedback. Will try to do tonight and advise.

Thank you VERY much - sometimes when you get old it helps to have another couple sets of eyes on what you're doing :)

Peace!
