The only way to get PPV at this time is to order it (either through your remote, the internet, or a phone call to Dave). You will get a bill and you'll have to pay it (or they will disconnect you and pursue you for payment).

If you disconnect your service, regardless of how long you wait to reconnect your receiver, you will lose your access. The stream is constantly full of disable commands for all inactive accounts, and your card is set to expire after a certain amount of time. When you "reconnect" you will either get disabled by the stream, or your card will expire and as soon as the reciever learns (from the stream) what the current date is, the card will deactivate (it'll take about 15 seconds).

If you want TV through DirectTV at this time, the only thing you can do is subscribe, and pay for it.

I really wish I had better news for you. I am dying for the system to be cracked, but the new security seems to be pretty good and I haven't heard of anyone making progress. I was pretty good with H and HU, but the new stuff is way beyond me... I have become a subscribing spectator.

Not a hope in hell of watching DirecTV on a FTA. Kinda like getting AM stations on an FM radio. Different processes.

Sorry

Okay, I'm a little confused.

I'm in Canada ... and friends in the area have just recently got a FTA that apparently gets wide open DTV stations via DishNet. I was confused when I heard that because I had been under the impression that FTA wasn't that reliable or good.

Apparently they also get BEV, but while DishNet is, apparently programmed into the box itself, BEV requires that they keep the receiver tuned to a BEV station overnight or it will disappear.

Does this make any sense to anyone?

CAN a FTA box reliably get DishNet and thus all the DTV channels? Now, granted these friends aren't terribly familiar with satellites etc ... but "their guy" told them that the box's DishNet won't go down?

Since we're having trouble with our DTV sub at the moment, I'm wondering if an "investment" into this FTA thing [which is only $250 and no ongoing programming charges ???] is in order?

Thanks for any information on this.

Mary

you need to move your existing dish. you need to add a 2nd dish or get a Dish 500 or Bells equivalent as you need to hit 110 and 119 satellites. you are currently on 101.Dish network programming (english)is divided pretty well equally on both 110 & 119.
