View Full Version : Wrong Trace Cut during VidMod on 013 Dual
Just as the title says!!! :(
I accidently cut the trace that is right beside the sb35. I did cut the sb35 but in so doing the knife slipped and I also cut the trace right beside it. Now it will not power up so I am guessing the trace has something to do with that.
I included a pic showing the trace I accidently cut and was wondering if anyone knows where there might be 2 places on the board I need to solder a jumper to complete this trace again.
It appears that one side of the trace goes to the point right beside the "SPOT'" that the vidmod is to be reconnected to BUT the other side runs underneath the writing of the SB35 circle and I cannot tell where it goes for sure after the circle at the sb35 area.
Skinerd???? Help!!! :)

looks like right cut to me, U just need to isolate sb35 and provide 12V there during write. After that close the cut again. Even if it is wrong, just put little solder to close it

It can be repaired a couple ways.....scrape the trace clean, carefully, and run some solder on it....OR...
Trace the lines out and put a jumper around the cut.
I have tried to trace it out and cannot be sure where it goes? My eyesite is not as good as it used to be and even with a magnifying glass I can't see where the trace runs. I figured someone else has miscut this trace by accident and knew where on the board the trace runs so I could add a jumper.
I don't want to bridge the sb35 cut as I have vidmodded the IRD and want to be able to use the vidmod to write to it in the future. The trace besides the SB35 is cut also though and damn if I can tell where it goes after it gets to the sb35 area because of the writing on the board hiding the trace itself.....anyone traced this out before?
I have done dozens of vidmods in the past with no issues but the knife slipping is kicking my ass right now cause I can't see that well LOL.

I did that once and went to rat shack and got that pen thingy that connects broken traces. It works good, but then if you let the pen sit around it goes bad after a while, but it will work, just a little spendy.

yea I will do that if it becomes neccessary.... BUT I was hoping someone with better eyes than me might be able to track down the trace and suggest 2 alternate solder points but I guess I am the only one that has made this boo boo!!! LOL :(
skin a piece of wire and scrape the traces just a little like skinerd says to and lput a coat of sloder on the wire. lay the tinted wire over the place you cut and heat it up with iron so it wil bond to the traces that you have scrapped off so it will bond.
DONT scratch to much, you will know when to stop. get all the green shit off till it turns to a copper color.
the way skinerd says to do it is the easiest just make a bridge with the solder. pretty easy cause the solder will not stick to nothing but the scrapped off copper trace.
