It appears that the most recent firmware updates from Dish (P2.09, P8.51) contains code that detects firmware mods. If indeed true, they will roll out updates for the rest of the receivers and then force everyone to the latest firmware and blackout old firmware. That will spell trouble for Atmega, Syndrome and ROM cards.
