If you're refering to using pansat bin, it will be killed by the clone kill code if it is present in the flash. Most of the stuff from Blacklist and Albar have the kill code in them.
If you're refering to using Fortec bins, you're o.k. as long as you use the correct bin for you're model. In essence, Fortecs are clones of Pansats.

"Fortecs are clones of Pansats"??? It is not the first time I see this, but...??? Could it be the opposite...???

The dudes writing the bins, like BlackList, have declared Fortec/Pantec as clones, and write kill code in their bins that destroy them.I would say that makes Fortec a clone. I have one, and loved it 'till the support died.

Sorry to be so "newbee".. but I don't understand two things...

1.- How do you know if your receiver is a clone or not???..

Slither said "Hi have fortec ultra lifetime star, made in korea, june 2004"...

How dou you know that Slither receiver is a clone???

I have a fortec Life time Ultra too, but now I am confused......

2.- What I understand is that some bins KILL your reciever,

This mean It burns your receiver???... the procesor???......

What dou you mean with "kills your receiver"???

and if it happens

Can your receiver be fix???

This bins kill only clones??? why???

I did down load a bin that aparently works for many receivers... not only Fortec... in the name of this file you can read...

....pantec-pansat-fortec-clone-fix-Dec-06....

So I asume that works with all this receivers...

IS This the kind of files that kills you receiver ???... so far my fortec still working...

NOTE.- (by the way... I left a post with the name of this file and some information that could be helpful for some people... and it has been errased.. why Mr. moderator??? it is not aloud to leave part of the names of the files???)

Well, I understading this situation like this: (LuckLarry, correct me)

I have Fortec LifeTime and an Ultra, for what I have been reading, the receivers work mainly with a couple of chips (the procesor -like a computer- and TSOP) looks like to me that depends on the number, maker and other characteritics of those, that cataloge them as a clone. I can not visualice them for my ultra, but I have been uploading everything without any trouble; but my Lifetime -if I follow those "statements"- has a "good combo", but It is imposible to make it work with the last bins, so I Am not using it anymore???

Kill your receiver, means that the TSOP chip gets "corrupted" with the code that is uploaded, making "unusuable" until you "restore" it via JTag.

That kind of bins are called "modded" and that make them usables to the receivers mentioned; modded means they contains codes compatible with all receivers as I said before, mentioned. Hope this bring some ligth to you knowledge in FTA!!!

I have a Fortec Life Time Ultra that I loaded with the Al7Bar FTA Ultra_120105_282t_api(NTSC)new key. I have no sound no video. And even no signal when I try to set the Disecq in the right position for both the 110 and 119 sat. This receivers was working before with the file Al7BarFTAUltra_120605_282_api(ntsc) for about 3 hours and suddenly went down. But the problem is that there is not signal coming down like the tuner is damage an the receiver is not ampolifing the signal enough. Any help will be appreciated.

The cruel naked truth:
Fortec is a shitty company. I own an ultra and i'm bout to puke on it. The suport is so poor, I wish they put the S/W on open source. The H/W is still as Pansat, but I think the suport went on strike (korean style) or they jost got layed off.
Just take a deep breath and admit: I own a piece of junk (and this because I don't want to be ofensive to asian people) and next time I look better for european/american stuff.
Have A Great Life!

Yes, you can JTag it. Yes, you can use the same programs (SkyMax). No, you have to use a Fortec Ultra Dump, a Fortec factory bin, but you can use a Pansat working bin at the end of the fixing sesion!!!

Did you try a factory default? That happened because you probably used a bin not modded, that means that still have the "kill clone". If you have just the knigth rider, it is JTag time!!! But you can try before re-uploading the factory bin, probably will work, if it work, please upload another safe bin!

Probably I am using the bin that kill clones but I watch tv for more than thee hours and my fortec was made in Korea.
I dont have the knigth rider symptom and still I have power and I can program my receiver. The only problem is that after I program it I can not get image in any channel.

Juanrbt, please double check, then, your keys, make sure you enter the working ones!!!, but before that remember turn off the key code funtion and try set default keys... Without forgetting to turn on, again that key code funtion.

When you upload a "killer bin" the TSOP chip gets "corrupted", to restore it to a working condition you have to clean it and upload a "clean" information and you do that through a JTag dongle and the adecuate software.

The JTag is the bunch of cables and connectors (but many people call JTag to the work of doing that dongle and the software).

How you do that? First of all you have to make the dongle, find the software, find the clean dump for your receiver and ejecute this procedure following the guidelines for that...

Thank you for the promp response. But this what i have found. I doble check the keys and I press the set default key button, evrything was fine but still no tv. After I expend more than 2 hours trying to bring vision up i decided to make the factory setting and to download again the satellites 110 and the 119 after that everyting was fine. Can you tell me way?

Thank you in advance
