just set ird to "ask for permission" to update the firmware and when it asks, simply select "NO"

When the problem startes is when they force the update

If your software got updated ...it will wiped out whatever you had ....(Atmega RSA mod, rom102torom10 mod, ...).

There are RSA flash script file out there for p8.51 for rom102torom10 that you need to use to modify the TSOP....there's none for Atmega ...

You can reverse the order of build in your eprom to slow down the update, but eventually you will get updated ...doesn't matter if you choose not to update or not...

The other alternative is to do the non-RSA mod for cam image ...load it on a rom10 ..then change ird/box key in tsop ....Again this is for rom102torom10 only.

:( charlie is updating receivers cause hes doing a card swap again. i just got one in the mail and it says
to activate before dec 23. dont know what version card it is.
does this mean that what i think it means/?
has anyone else received one ?

Any attempts to avoid firmware update, such as eeprom mismatching ect, will only delay the inevitable. Sooner or later, your channels will start dropping if you don't let the firmware update.

There's another mod out there that does not require RSA ....it is for rom10.

There's an image of a legit sub with the DT08 replaced with a public one, you load this image on your rom10, change the IRD # and box key to be the same as in cam, in TSOP. Done....

With this one you don't have to redo the TSOP even if Charlie updates software, since it's not using RSA ...Btw this only works for legacy IRD's..not DP's ..

:) I am running a 3900 with latest software (p236) All I had to do is modify the rsa key script. They changed the location of the rsa keys on my tsop to 107ac8, 107ad8, 107ae8, and 107af8. I also moved my crs checksum to 107cde. I don't know if this is the same location for all bldg configs because I only have one to try. Every thing up and running!:)

Hey, 101. Can you point me a direction on this modification. I have one 6000 and it is keep updating the firmware even with "ask me before updating" is set. Works fine with rom10 and modded tsop for bout 1-2 days.
