View Full Version : 510 problems by the dozen
Hello, I have been attempting to get my 510 going for the last 5 days (and nights) by spending several hours reading, then trying something new, then repeating repeating etc etc. I was hoping I could succeed without asking for help, but now that I am one fry short of a happy meal, here I am with my first post for 2005 .....
After trying several times to get the drive married and the bin in the correct format with my added info, I finally gave up and used a pair of pre-modded DFED Tsops I found in the files section for my receiver (DFED inside on sticker). The first was at version P80 and I used that to marry the drive (it was previously dumbed down to an 80 gbyte from when I used it for nag1, but I changed it back to 120) and it updated to 304 just fine, so I uploaded the pre-modded P304 into the receiver along with it's eeprom file. Lastly, I cleaned my rom10 card and opened the rom10to102 bin file, then added the two flashes to go with it....... All I get with the card is the old "not valid for this receiver" error.
The Tsop IRD numbers and Box keys are different than what the card flashes are, but I remember reading that the pre-modded Tsop would work with them (doesn't make sense to me). Sorry for the large size posting, but I am completely out of new ideas to try, and could use some help (and some sleep)...... JR

I had the same problem could not get my 510 to work
with my rom-10.
But with a llllot of reading and help from SKINERD and some
other people got the thing going.
Check my thread maybe it will help:

I have same build as yours DFED.
JARJOZ, thanks for the reply....... I am quite familiar with that thread, and all others that you posted about the 510. It was those threads that I started with.......
Where my luck started to turn to crap was when I downloaded the beta 4 version of flashedit so I could repeat your moves. I ran it once and took a look at it and noticed the new fs script options, but the very next time I opened it, it did nothing. I found it was running in my XP's task manager, but nothing showed up on the screen, even with computer restarted and no other programs running......... I even downloaded other beta versions, but they all did the same thing. The older non beta versions still work though, and that is what I used, along with a hex editor to add the "right stuff" in binary....... After failing miserably with that, I resorted to those other methods mentioned above.
Maybe it would be a good idea to start at square one (again) and try to figure out why the flashedit beta's are not working on my machine. Perhaps when I get that working, I can continue following your lead, and get somewhere............. Will report back my progress......... JR

There is a trick to getting the flash edit fs file to work on a 510, as it relocates the receiver number and boxkeys. If you'll shoot me an e-mail addy by PM, I can send a DFJA(D) file that works....
Thanks for the offer Skinerd, PM sent........ JR

irjr i have the same build DFED
I can send you all my files and flashes
i used to get my 510 going.
It should work on yours.
If you want - pm me your e-mail
A lot of people helped me
just trying to return a favor.
Thanks a lot both of you. While I was awaiting your emails, I gave it another go from the beginning using an old P80 file I had, and was able to get the update, mod the new P304, and add the files and patches to the Rom10 card. Works like a charm, recording and all. Thanks for the help, and thanks especially for sharing your valuable time with me and all the others. Wishing everyone a great Holiday Season........ JR
{edit} The only trouble I ran into was FlashEdit Beta 9, which wouldn't let me open the modded file to fix the CRC error. I found Beta 4 and it did the trick.
