Cannot Jtag my 6000!

I have a working 6000 with sub. I got the stream update from p828 to p829 without jtag. AVRX does not work 129 nag. However when I first tried it I did get guide and then 129. Now, it goes straight to 129. I have tried to jtag and it will not work. I am using milli buffered jtag tried with fresh batteries and a 9 volt adapter no jtag. Tried moving the ground all over the place. I tried the BF1 jumper..nothing. I soldered to bottom...nothing. I used AVRX header...nothing. I ohm'd out all header pins to each other and there is no cross-contact. I ohm'd the header pins to the bottom side pads...it's ok??? I owned out the jtag all the way..it's ok. I pogo pins onto jtag...ohm'd...nothing. I tried 5 versions of jkeys...nothing. Is it possible that a 6000 is UN-Jtagable?

I used the jtag for for my 508 worked fine! I will test it one more time with my working 508.

6000 uses pads 2,3,4,5 and 7 not pad 6

6000's are very tagable!

I am using those pads. UPDATE: I built a "simple jtag" hooked it all up...soldered to the correct pads...and STILL absolutely nothing!! I'm about to drive over this POS! I do not get anything with jkeys! I have refreshed 5,000 times ...same! I have rebooted..checked port (I programmed an avrx with port). I have tried to unplug and run jkeys in every possible combination! Arghhhhh!!!

you need to try and use a buffered jtag. Sometimes a simple jtag will just not cut it

I have both! I tried the buffered and the simple. I yanked the header from the board and now I am going to directly solder to the pads. Will it still work with the header holes open and not soldered in? Or should I solder them in?

I had to do a BFL mod to my 6000 just to get j-keys to even read the ird info. Do a search for it and it will ease your pain. Pictures are posted in a thread labeled "Help with 6000"

Tried that too! I will try all again once I have everything back together and soldered up

Ok..I removed the f..ing header.Looks clean? I did a headerless avrx. off the back of the avrx I moved the IDT connector forward and used the remaining wires for a jtag. ohm'ed it all out again....STILL no F..in jkeyes entry. all 0000000's at least before it was FFFFFFFFF's. I'm selling this POS! I have another 6000 that is NOT the 6000U model. The other POS is the 6000U?? Wuld this be of significnce? The menu's for the NON U model are totally different (although it's 728p software...I it refuses to get stream update. I'm afraid to try to jtag it and erase the s30 because it will probably not work or something and I'll throw it out on the freeway! Oh..and I tried the BFL top side jtag...bottom jtag....I'm gonna give it a .40 cal jtag!

I was having a similar problem with my 6000. I was not able to jtag either after soldering the header on.

I first tested continuity between the jtag pads and the header. Everything was fine.

Next I tested continuity between the header pins and the resistors on the board. All of them were ok but one. I attempted removing the solder from that pin, and reapplying. No good.

I finally soldered a small wire from the header pin to that resistor. I am now able to jtag again.

I still have not achieved the ultimate goal. I am still getting 019 errors, but I am going to keep trying. (My 3900 working great).

I just soldered to the bottom jtag the avr-x and it works didn't open it! I am going to do the same thing with the wires to all the resisters as well. Then I'll see what I can do. Try to erase sa30 and then disconect sat in...plug in...then quickly hit menu and do a check switch....oh..all this after it retakes the p829 upgrade. I read this from the avr-x forum.

I am up and running too! Was happy to finally get video after a week of work. Will be good to see NFL in HD on ESPN tonight.

mine would not show me box keys and ird# or would it let me flash the eprom or enter flash programing. I had to not ground my jtag to pad 1 instead it wanted to be grounded to case and with the bfl jumper.
after that it flashed ereased and reflashed the modded tsops with no problem
