No matter what I do, I keep getting this error? Could AVR board be NFG? Is there anyway to test? I have an AVR3 running on a P2 350MHz comp. Flashed board, modded receiver, updated boot disc with new keys last night. Have yet to get this working. I have made my own cable at least 3 different times and still the same error. I did however not include the resistors and diodes in my cable. Some people have said they are not required except for a buffered cable. Is that correct?

PS - My info screen still say S0000000

S0000000, shows the card is not programming. If it programs complete when programming it. then the card could be bad, if it shows all zero's. Make sure you insert a paper or business card on top of the avr-x when inserting it in the receiver too.

You have an AVR with a 8515 chip on it? If so, You need to flash it with the IRD2PC for N2. Jeepers works fine with the pfg 8515 file. It can be found in the files section. You also have to set your com port on your pc to 115200 in the device manager properties. Once this is done you should get channels. If you get black screen check channel 198. If it comes up you are ready to go, avr serial port wise. The rest is getting the proper keys and tsop stuff. All pertinent info is available with some reading. I use the CEMU for BEV from the files section and it works fine. Make sure to use nagraedit to update you bin properly with both idea keys and you will get all channels until they change the keys again. autroll has not been fixed on cemu yet but i am sure it will come out soon. enjoy

Tried the old business card trick - didn't work. BTW - I am using an AVR3 for CEMU. The Rom102 Rev103 shows correctly, but it just doesn't want to comunicate with the PC. Checked port settings and everything seems OK (not very good with DOS) but still no CamID? Like I said, I have made 3 different cables using different connectors and still nothing - "019 - Smart Card not inserted correctly". Is it possible non-buffered cable just wont work?

I am using a non buffered serial cable and it works fine. How long is the cable you are using? What type of cable are you using? Are you hooked to com port 1 or com port 2? Default is com port 1. A couple of years ago I had a com port go bad while testing. You can use some cat5 and buy a db9, db25 and a couple of rj11's at rat shack and make a longer cable if needed. I had one that was 40 feet long. Try and put it on com port 2. Just change the setting in the INI file. Your cable should have a ground, a receive and a transmit. Info in the howto or read me for ird2pc for proper pinouts. Use a volt meter and buzz out the pins when the connector is plugged into the avr for proper polarity. If it still does not work, You may want to buy another 8515 chip, replace and test again. They are very inexpensive and can be purchaed by searching on google. It is a good idea to have an extra avr or two hanging around as well.

Orville,
I am using a standard 9DP cable. Cut one end off and soldered on a 25 pin connector. Its about 4 feet long. Haven't tried using port2 yet, but I think I will. AVR also has a 9 pin connector as well as the 25 pin. Can it be used instead?

OK Folks,
tried this again last night. Made another cable - took 2 hours making it! Did a real nice job - still nothing? I get the correct Rom and Rev so I know the flash is OK. Tried a Rom10 card and got the correct Cam ID so I know the IRD is OK. Checked DOS and Com port 1 is 3F8 IRQ address 4. I noticed in the cemu.ini file the IRQ is 7. Will that make a difference? I am ready to through everything out the window!

IRQ has to be 4 for the address. Make sure you are not using 4 for another device on your computer. If not change it to 4 and it should work.

Device Manager
Port settings
COM 1
Bit per second 115200
data bits 8
parity none
stop bits 1
flow control none

Resources input/output range 03F8 -03FF
IRQ 4

The irq on the ini is not being used at this time. I can send you what I use.

rename to .rar and give it a try. if this does not work. your avr is not programmed proerly or the cb9 to db25 pinout is wrong.

Thanks Orville, will give it a try. BTW - is this for Bev or DN? I am using Bev.
Also - had trouble flashing my 3100.010. Seemed to program OK after I went thru some trials, but could this be the culprit?

It is for BEV. look for the modded 3100 dumps in the file section, it is a good tsop. It is for the dual tsop u22/u23. If you get channel 198 with your plastic than u should get it with the avr when emu is running. the rest is key changes using nagredit.

Thanks again Orville. Just downloaded a new TSOP with exact same build config as my IRD. I will give that a try and your cemu file. Hope this works.

BTW - what do you use3 for your TSOP - Wall or Jkeys - read that sometimes Jkeys doesn't work well with 3100.
