<RANT>

It's about fucking time someone jumped in here and set the fucking rules straight. I'm going to start this thread off by saying first that a) it's Friday night; b) I've had a long stressful week; c) i'm into my 4th (doubles) rye and coke (for you yanks that's a 'whiskey' and coke).

I'm tired of searching the 'new posts' and sifting through 2 pages of what ususally amounts to tiresome, rhetorical bullshit for the sake of reading a few good threads. In that light, I would like to propose a new (toungue in cheek) set of rules for this forum..

1) you MUST have an IQ of at LEAST 80 on your best day. I'm serious.
2) you MUST know how to use a search engine. Posts asking what the latest version of the firmware on any given receiver should simply be deleted. NEWS FLASH people: DISH controls the firmware on the IRDs, so here's a thought: search the dishnetwork site for "latest software". l I guaran-fucking-tee you'll get the page you need first try.
3) you MUST have tried 3 things that you can document BEFORE you fucking post a question. Threads that deal with "I don't see all the channels on my guide" have NO place here and are a waste of fucking bandwidth.
4) If you're going to post a problem then post a) your set up; b) your hacking method; and c) what you've tried thus far. Telling us in a brand-spanking new thread that all screens are black (NO!!! Holy Shit?!!???) on your 2800 means FUCK ALL to me or anyone else. I read that and I say "GOOD - I'M fucknig GLAD you ingorant FUCK".
4b) If in fact you are an igorant FUCK - then change your nick-name and post under IF #(insert number here). At least then we'll know the nature of the post and can choose to act accordingly from there.

In all seriousness guys/gals... please please please.. think twice (and if necessary thrice) before posting. There's waaaaaaayyyyy too much crap in here that doesn't need to be.

Mili is always conservetive

Some days I think the avegrage would be more like 90% banned for point # 1 they way they post questions that have been asked and answered hundreds of times already

They think read and search are dirty words too.

They think we know what they are using and doing,
mind readers we are.

I have tried to answer a dozen questions posted in one forum that actually belong in another, just tonight !

One guy aasked about box keys in the AVR-X forum and you don't need to change them with AVR-X so I moved him to the general dish and Bev forum and it wound up he was using the new rom10 flashedit with a ATMega card when I finally got all the information to determine what he was doing and why.

You have to give us your

Wwhat IRD
Dish or Bev
what card
the complete problem or question
what you are doing or trying to do.

We need all this and maybe more to even begin to help you.

LOL, whats even more frightening is that the ones that would be banned for point one are reproducing. I have to admit, I don't think I've ever NOT been able to find the answers to my questions by searching through the forums. The jacked up thing is I'm all out of coke...but half a bottle of Canadian Club left :) Cheers Skipper

Well I Didn't read the entire post but enough to make me wonder.

I would imagine most of the free tver's that just want a solution that works without having to waste their day reading usless and pointless information from folks who seem to limit their vocabulary to vulgar usless information.

I bought the avr-x for 2 reasons

1. It should have been plug and play
2. It should support BEV

I read all of the read me files and watched the videos and don't think it's fair for anyone who is not here looking over my shoulder to conclude that I don't know what I am doing. If that is the case then it's because someone has failed to make the instructions clear. Don't tell me it's because i didn't solder the connection right I have a great understanding of the varying degrees of solder joint and how to detect and correct bad ones, besides this software and card worked flawlessly on 1.03. and the joints and connections have been checked and rechecked.

I would like to get my BEV 2700 working on the 1.04 software. Not cause a war. You took the time to get drunk and spurt a bunch of useless information perhaps you should take some time and learn some patients. If you own this site and are shooting off, then don't let me stand in your way. go ahead and destroy you livelyhood someone will eventually pick up and offer your customers better options. If you don't own this site. You would do well to consider the dammage you are causing for dssftp's current and future customers with your ramblings.

Is their another support/sales site for avr-x besides here? That would seem to be the only message left that you didn't offer to destroy relations for the customer base.

Perhaps Skipper should have said it this way.....It's incredibly frustrating and time consuming to try and help someone who makes little or no effort to help themselves. Somebody who would rather gripe about a problem than put in the time to resolve it is not helping themselves or anyone else. Someone who refuses to use the search feature and who is unwilling to put in a few minutes reading about thier particular issue are making things harder on themselves and others than it needs to be. Virtually all common issues have been discussed at length around here. 95% of all issues have been covered at least several times before you encounter said issue. This is a hobby. If you don't want to put in the time and would rather give up after 5 minutes of frustration, then you are better off subbing. This is not the hobby for you.

Well I have been trying to get the 1.04 software working since it came out. I am aware that all of the issues have been talked about at length. and I have used the search button. If you think I am better off subbing perhaps that may be if that's your best advice.

Try typing the word 'return' in the search feature. You can also email Mili at mili@dssftp.com and explain the situation to him. There is also a link in the store for returns. :)

It's funny, 'cause if you look up skipper's threads and replies, you won't find much of that help from him you just mention. Most of the threads are questions he's asking, and some others, well .... judge by yourself.

So I agree many people don't want to be helped and need a quick fix. But there are also many of them who I bet, have been trying to get things going up. And running into some difficulties. The quick fixers are very easy to spot ... now if you don't wan't people who break rule #1 posting in this forum, well just stop selling the avr-x to them.

You don't wan't kids getting drunk? Don't sell booze to them, it's that simple.

So IMFHO, for the ranters and quick fixers.... if you can't stand the heat, get the fuck out of the kitchen.

Version 1.04 working great in my 2700 @8.34p, if you are really that unhappy with the product so be it but if you are just pissed at the replies then get over it like we all do and keep trying. If you're IRD worked fine on 1.03 then it still should with 1.04, tell us more about what you are doing and exactly what you mean by not working, post that in the AVR-X forum, not here.

I'm not sure what you are trying to say but there are 2 sides to all coins. I firmly believe that people should be free to ask questions, the other side of that is that those questions should reflect that serious effort has been made to 1) find the answer prior to asking, 2) indicate what the problem is exactly and what was done to try and fix it, 3) give detailed information regarding the askers actions/equipment/software versions/programs used/and a time-lined explanation of what they have done and what the program/IRD responces were.
We are only here of our own free will and on our own time and do want to help. This is made much easier by avoiding duplication and the pulling of teeth that often make it hard to stick to the course of help-giving; we cannot always be here and don't always have the answer. Thank You

I did indicate all of this before. I don't think I want to go through all of this again. People here are preoccupied with being scarcastic and rude. and it seems to be supported by a lot of the mods. I guess I was just expecting something more like a professional clean run forum. My mistake. If you guys want your card back I will send it cod just for the cost of shipping. But I will be having the charge reversed on my card. From what they tell me at extremetesting you will post my card info next. let me save you the time.

Card type: MC

12-18-2005, 04:39 PM
The way I see it, there's 8 numbers missing from your MC - damn, I was about to have a free Christmas at Pinky's expense:rolleyes:

I might as well carry on the tradition of this sarcastic forum, so here goes:p

Now hear this, Pinky, you idiot -

I can see several possible resolutions to your problem, if you'd set your ego and your penchant for complaining aside for five minutes....

1) Reflash your 2800, if necessary, and reprogram the AVRX to 1.03 (you did say that combination worked fine ???? )

2) Wait for 1.05, which is supposed to address issues with 2700/2800 receivers

3) Instead of writing Mili and making threats, request an exchange which he would have been glad to do - if indeed your card is defective and won't accept the 1.04 programming.

4) Test a Rom10, Atmega, 101, 102, Syndrome - something - in the meantime while you await your replacement card. For what it's worth, that's exactly what I did, my replacement AVRX (which works just fine with 1.04) is here, and I didn't have to bother posting my personal information on the forum and spread discontent all over the damn place. See how easy that was ?

Whining about a problem that you could have easily solved yourself....free

Mentioning all the MC doomsdayers who continue to hang out at ET with the sole intent of dissing Mili and his business practices....free

Posting your personal information, from Canada, no less, on a pirate TV forum....priceless

As I said in the beginning, you are an idiot. Merry Christmas. ;)

Cimba
12-18-2005, 06:37 PM
Jesus Pinky you are one sensitive guy, I don't see anything in my post that should upset anyone. If anything Your situation was used to point out a problem that has become larger than it is, people get pissed because they can't get resolution to a problem as quick as they think it should happen or in a way they think it should happen. Fact is there is alot of people with problems of many different kinds, it may take time to sort through all the info and pissing and moaning. Also the right person may just not see the question or maybe no-one has a pat answer.
There are correct avenues to be taken, in your case outlining the steps you took and the non-results you got, along with a polite email to Mili may have brought a quick and mutually satisfactory accomodation.
You said: "I bought the avr-x for 2 reasons
1. It should have been plug and play
2. It should support BEV"
You said: " besides this software and card worked flawlessly on 1.03."
You knew the Bev support was coming later when you bought it and it did work just fine when you got it, and Bev is now supported. So something happened along the way with your card or your method. If you have the right software version with the right AVR-X version and still cannot get it to work then address it appropriately instead of making a p & m session of it.

mruk69
12-18-2005, 08:32 PM
Pinky, you dont need extreme to tell you what to think? A lot of the members their just plain and simply hate Mili, so they will say anything. Even if Mili Gave everyone a free Avr-X and supplies lifetime updates for free they would find something to bitch about. I am not saying everyone there but a lot of them. I was on there site last week and I saw a conversation about making your own AVR-x out of the Magic Card. Where is the proof? Someone claimed to have taken the Avr-X apart and make new traces on the mC , install the prong and it worked. Once again where the fuck is the proof. They are just stiring shit up. You had a choice to buy the card or not? No one put a gun to your head and forced you to buy it. Grow up and be patient, everyones problems get solved eventually. Testing is learning and that is what we are all doing. We all learn something new each and every day.

Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to Ya.

I can't side with Pinky for his rant, and we have to admit that skipper eventually did calm down (must have sobered up) but since I haven't even begun my process --- I'm still too busy reading, learning, and waiting for 3100 bev support ---- I have to hope you'll be gentler with my STUPID questions when I start to ask them.

Pinky is a idiot

Ignore him

ask intelegent questions and supply complete information about your euipment and problem and 99 times out of a hundred we can help you, the 100th time you may have a bad card.

I get tired of people saying they did everything exactly right only to come back in a hour of two or a day or two and say gee you were right I had (a bad solder joint) ( a bridged contact) ( a lifted trace) (my anti virus running) ( my BIOS was not set right)

Pinky just knows it all and did not listen to out advice.
Then he complains when we get pissed at him for ignoring the advice.

Anyone that brags about ruining good rye with coke probably failed meet the criteria for rule 1.

We need to remember that there are newbies that buy the equipment but have no idea what their doing, don’t understand what they are reading, or even what to search for. However, with a little patients and a helping hand they (in most cases) can learn and become productive members of the community.

Pinky, I have been one of the biggest skeptics of the AVR-X and its maker but shit dude. You knew it was not plug and play when you bought it. What’s your next grip, it wont fetch you a beer or give you a lap dance.

Mili (or whomever is now in charge of banning since Mili banned himself), please don’t ban me for not always conforming to rule #1, I have a good reason behind it, if I could think of it I would tell you but this is one of them moments I guess.

Merry Christmas to you too

I usualy drink Canidian Club, (10 bucks a bottle cheaper) but for the first drink and special occasions I like Crown Royal.

No I have never even heard of forty creek barrel select. Is it made in Canada ? I am from the states and do not spend much time in liqour stores. My drinking preferances were formed 50 years ago before a lot of these new ones existed.

yes its made is canada, its pretty new, made in oak barels which you can tast in the drink very smooth, if you cannot get this in the states then i do suggest you pick up a sample next time you are in canada and try for yourself, this wiskey is becomming very popular in canada and i very much enjoy it. just thought id meantion it :)

Thanks Intergalactix, yup I am far, far away from the land of ice and snow and it is not available down here as far as I know, if I get up there (in the summer of course) I will look for it.

As long as you can get up and look yourself in the mirror in the morning, it doesn't matter. Or does it ??

Well - I'm more than a little suprised this thread is now 2 pages. But glad to see you're talking about whiskey. Yes my normal choice is Crown Royal, but seeing as the wife wanted to make some home-made Irish Cream for the holidays we bought a texas-mickey of Wisers. Now, I've tried Wisers before but I'm sure it was the 'Special Reserve' or something because THIS stuff tastes like crap. And unfortunately there's a whole lot of it left over. After last Friday the shit's going to stay in the bar till next xmas. I can drink Crown till the cows come home and never be hung over. This time 'round I didn't start feeling normal till sometime Tuesday. :-)

I still stand by my rant - and if you haven't figured out that it was 'toungue in cheek' then perhaps you don't pass #1. There's too much repetition of BASIC questions on this site. I hit my threshold Friday night after reading someone ask if the AVRX needed to be in the reciever while programming for the umpteenth time. That's why Mili built the 'how-to' pages, and I (along with probably most others that frequent this site) actually took the time to read them. The posts asking for spoonfeeding serve no one at all.

Someone early on in this thread pointed out that I don't offer help on here. You want to know why? Because if I actually KNOW the answer to the question being asked it's because I leaned it HERE - so if the person asking the question can't take the time to use the search function... you get the picture. If I don't know - then I look forward to reading the answer from someone else who does.

Anyway.. Good to see a bunch of you out there enjoying the Crown with me. Merry Xmas to all of you and hope no one gets a hangover as bad as I did last weekend.

Cheers.

Skipper

Yeah go ahead all you pickled procrastinatin' porno perverted pirates, have a few for me seeing as I'm not allowed even a smell anymore. Merry xmas bullshit without a nice drink of some kind, guess I'll have to trip back 30 years and start toking again to deal with my miserable envy ! Anybody wanna discuss their fave smokables lol ?
Merry Christmas to ya all anyway and yes I said Merry Christmas whether its politically correct or not, Happy Holidays just doesn't cut it for me.

Oh Skipper, I only wish you had asked here first about Wiser's. I could have advised Crown Royal. And.....

WE COULD HAVE WARNED YOU! hehe. Yes, Wiser's is generally crap. The special reserve is barely passable for a mixer. Canadian Club is a better mixer.

Wiser's is usually bought by people who are.....um....how can I say...financially challenged. :) It's the bottom of the whiskey food chain, so to speak. It really shouldn't be considered whiskey/rye. Let's call it an alcohol abortion. lol.

As for the post, yes, people should read, re-read, and perform a search on the forum's search engine before posting. This would really reduce copy threads.

Cimba, YOU ARE THE MAN! All this politically correct bullshit is pissing me off. Whenever a person says "Happy Holidays", I say, "Merry Christmas and a safe New Year without the Happy Holidays". :) They look like a deer caught in headlights!
As a Catholic am I supposed to bury Christmas? The first 6 letters spell Christ. It's a religious day that has been hijacked by those wanting to make it generic. Now they (the media and talk show hosts), have been calling a Christmas Tree, a Holiday Tree. AGGHHH. I don't look at a Jewish Menorah and say "What a nice candle stick." I don't look at the Star of David and say, "Those 2 inverted pyramids look nice."

I feel a backlash will come. Whenever a rubber band is pulled too far in one direction, it snaps in the other.

As for Crown Royal, I feel I need one right now. lol.

Besides Molson Canadian beer, Crown Royal is one of the best things made in my Canada. Keeps one warm during these cold winter nights.

Here's a pic of my favourite. Crown Royal Limited Edition. Mmmm, so good. I drink it straight, or with ice. When I mix, it's Canadian Club from Hiram Walker.

Fluffy.

Samantha Bee of The Daily Show said it best "But really let's face it, all other days bow down to the 25th: Christmas. It's the only religious holiday that's also a Federal holiday. That way Christians can go to their services and everyone else can stay home and reflect on the true meaning of Separation of Church and State."

Well, well, well. Let those who don't want to enjoy the peaceful, joyous, day..the way they want. With coal.

I guess the pic I attached sums it up.
