What's next? Wheelchair speed traps?
Radar traps for speeding roller-bladers... (Reuters)
Canadian police have trained their radar guns on a new target - speeding roller bladers. A dozen people were nabbed for excessive speed in a radar trap set up last weekend in Vancouver said police spokeswoman Anne Drennan. "The speed limit along there is 15 kilometers and the people who were ticketed were doing nearly double that." The Police set up the radar trap after complaints from pedestrians who were getting knocked down by speeding rollerbladers. The offending skaters have got slapped with a C$75 fine, and police say that they'll continue using the radar trap until the rollerbladers slow down...

Let them concentrate on these poor souls...anything that keeps them away from the Dss market is fine with me...LMAO...
Maybe the bladers will have to install speed restricters on their blades.............lol

Wow...a revived thread that's 6 months old...that has to be some kind of a record.
There's about 6 states that ban radar detectors, and if I'm not mistaken, the feds outlawed them for use in big rigs.
A law that is universally ignored, although lots of truckers have purchased remote units.
You "forgot" to pay your fine? You bad Canuck, you... :p

Chief you are corect. They are illegal to be in use in any"comercial vehicle". I found out the hard way in the tow vehicle when we stopped at the scales on the way back from rockingham.
I thought radar detectors were illegal in all of Canada. I know I hide mine when ever I cross the border. And, oddly enough, my Bell radar detector was made in Canada.

Used to sell 'em when I had my car audio center. Never sold BEL - more Cobra and Whistler than anything else. At one time, there was such a demand for Escorts that I could pay full retail for them (Escort never had a dealer network), add 20 percent to the price and sell all I could get. Once the national speed limit was raised to 70, you couldn't get diddley for them anymore.
Most of the cops in this area now use laser - nearly impossible to defeat since you have no warning. The beam doesn't scatter like it does with the older X and K band units.
Smash 'em in front of you? If that was tried here, some San Francisco judge would be on that like a june bug on a horse turd....

They can nail all the bladers they want , it just keeps them off the hackers and the growers backs for a while. Gotta love livin' in Canada, nail a guy getting a workout but let the bud grow as tall as the trees.
Cop tries to step on my Valentine 1 he'd better call for backup first. ;)
Then again, with the V1 I never have to worry about bumping into any Canadian Bubble gum machines in my car anyway.. :)

Wow! I never thought I'd see the words 'fine' and 'saskatchewan' in the same sentence.
Other than, 'boy it sure was fine to get the fuck out of saskatchewan'

The cops down here nailed a man for being drunk on his way home from the VFW.
Whats bad is he was in his battery powerd WHEEL CHAIR. We didnt know if we should laugh or cry. Instead we took up a collection to pay the fine for him. Hell, the guy lost his legs in WW2. If he wants to do donuts in his wheel chair then let him as far as I'm concerned.
