Hey man... do you have a big window facing south? It could be that Charlie is looking into your window! PULL THE DRAPES!!
Either that or you have a very wide tier range and you are picking up a station that a normal sub wouldn't get.
I haven't found a way to eliminate all the Pirate TV stations and that makes me worry... because all Charlie has to do is send down a little program that says "If you can see Pirate TV then Loop IRD".
As a stop-gap measure you can take a look at the sticky on setting your tiers. That will reduce the number of pirate TV messages you see. I doubt it will help but it's a good idea to set your tiers anyway.

Darkbob - invest into a digital lock and charlie can loop the lock rather than the IRD, which won't affect you by any means. I think the AVR-X has anti-ecm measures in it with the ribbon loopback, its everyones guess if they work or not as no ECM's have been sent though yet on N2.

OK, this thread is the first one I've seen talking about Pirate TV channels.
So do all "testers" see these channels in their guide?
Personally I don't care if they are in my guide or not. But, some here have noted that one could be targeted if you see them? I think the fact that one is testing makes one open to Dave's changes/attacks. So should testers really be concerned if they see these Pirate channels?

Only if you've invited your local Dishnet dealer over for dinner:D
Seriously though, although there's no way to say for certain, this doesn't strike me as a means to ECM our IRD's into oblivion. More likely, it's simply a way for DN to pick up some additional subs.
Charlie can launch counterattacks without PirateTV channels, rest assured;)

I don't get those pirate channels with my Atmega128 tiers, but I do get them with my AVR-X.
Because AVR-X only has 10 tiers available, we combine tiers groups together into one tier. This includes those prirate channels which are located in the empty tier spaces.
Atmega128 has 34 tiers, so there are enough tiers so they can be configured as Dish has programmed them.

I just do a channel lock on 123, 196, 299, 308, 324. Of course, when I unlock the system, they are also open!!!!

how can he do ECM..he woould kill all his subs if he tried that.
I think he fired all the signal integrity people when we hacked him this time so fast
Sorry Charlie, but nobody wants DTV
