View Full Version : Why Pick AVR-X over Syndrome?

Iv'e read posts here of so many people spewing venom, PM reselling, and bashing the AVR-X. I even read about people getting mad because the keys roll too often and they have or don't want their customers coming back to them for card reprogramming. Here is the low-down.

Syndrome IRD Models currently supported as of 12-26-05:

301.010 (U23)
301.013 single flash
301.013 dual flash (U12)
501,508,510 (U7)
*Supports autoroll

Add the price of the Syndrome card, a good programmer, along with the price of one of the above listed receivers if you don't already have one.
Well over the price of an AVR-X which comes with or without its own programmer, etc. depending on which way you buy it from Mili.

Also, factor in ease of use; card popularity; number of cards produced and sold; number of receiver support; card interchange mobility from receiver to receiver; up and down time; card manufacturers reputation, reliabilty and support; card dealer, trust for customer safety, reputation, reliability, and support; turn-around time for card defect replacements by dealer; independent user fan-base support, card life and current testing targets and future probability testing targets.

Syndrome modifies the IRD TSOP firmware and is based on the old Neo card which came out around the last days of Nagra 1 stream and promised N2 support but never and later became extinct due to poor price, popularity, availability, and support. Ask SJ about his Syndrome card replacement and dealer support thus far and see what his answer is. And before you "boo me and spew me", I have an AVR-X that is up and running right now with NP as well as several other members here.

I have used several pastics in my time my favorite was the ROM3
never got HIT after I figure out how to close them.
I did not need a blocker, no locks any kind I was set for life.....

So far the Avr-x is working just fine for me
in reality we do need autoroll, more flexability on the software
and we should be set for a while.
I have no complaints from my side and support is GREAT...

I will stay here, I like it here and I learn alot here.....
some day I will get my DEGREE here..

tyfon here

The design concept of jtagging that AVR-X uses is a good one.

Only time will tell whether Magician walks away from the support and leaves us all hanging.

i dont think you can use some of your points in your original post leech as reputable selling ones. i have two avrxs, one gives 019 one gives another error on the same receiver. solder job is flawless. tried all the voodoo tricks of cycling power and biz cards etc, meh ill keep at it. i DID enjoy my magic card, it worked nicely until all the polticis came into play, so i can only hope my magic card 3 works better

Rom 10.Avr-x,Syndrome, got one of each and they all work fine on dish.Gotta admit that having the autoroll on the drome is a cats ass and hopefully one day in the not to distant future the avr-x will too.Cross my fingers every time I have to pull the x to change keys. Here in the middle of the great white north the dromes are increasing in price and availablitiy and the avr-x is going down in price and hard to move because of no autoroll.

I also have 1 avr-x, which am still getting the 019 error and have since I received it. But it would do me no good even if it did not get the error because of the "no autoroll" feature. My wife is a tv nut and when the keys are rolled then she goes nuts!! LOL So I got the syndrome in the living room and bedroom so she can watch tv without problems, I got to keep her happy. LMAO

What receiver you are using? I know it does not matter!!!!!!!!!!
but I had a Avr-x that it was bad.... on a 301-13 the receivers will
blink blink blink...... on the 2800 it will give a 019 error..
keep that in mine... it drove me nuts when I started..
How I solved the problem.... when I got another AVR-x
then one BOTH IRD'S worked just fine....

hence the christmas sale. no support, or lack therof that is are making these cards a hard seller. they would be perfect if they did autoroll. especialy on Bev.
How long do you think it will take charlie to follow suit? we will all have to change keys hourly if this autoroll does not show up soon.

Personaly, I would put my money on AVR-X but only once the autoroll comes to fruition.

Well I have an AVR-X, Syndrome, Rom10, and Atmega. I have been using the atmega without any issues, so I haven't needed to extensively test either of the other devices. I have local tier remapping and the keys are easily changable. Although I do think that the AVR-X will be the winning card of choice, the atmega up to this point has been very easy to maintain. I feel that you need more than 1 solution to test. Which is better??? The one that is currently woking..........

Test On...

Upload your proof in Syndrome public files, then!! I got my info out of the Syndrome software. And don't hand us that BS about you got 20 Syndromes and all that plastic, Atmegas and so on without any real proof. Lol. I read your replies in posts and members check his post on:

there are a couple sites that the mod's have got there test cards this week, and verified by **********, and there saying the syndrome card is still running with all channels this afternoon after there fta's went down.

*So how you got 20 Syndrome cards within 2 months time when no dealers had them, only pre-orders and much less could hardly replace the defective ones? You can't fool the real members here at DSSMili, you wolf in sheep's skin. Should have given Mili or one of the Mods one for all the help they have showed and given us. I would have. Check yourself before you wreck yourself, Scrooge!!! 20 Syndromes, nice early April Fool's joke. What a way to bring in the New Year's. Lol. I never thought it would be this much fun being a Zero hero!!!

I have ordered quite a few AVR-Xs. Although the Rom10to102 is the most solid thing out right now, I believe in the AVR-X and will order more. It seems to have the most promise for the future, at least until a full plastic hack is released.

We shall see but one thing is for sure. Some people have a burr under their saddle about the AVR-X. Those folks are not likely to stop bitching, no matter what happens. I try to overlook them. If you take the time to click on a bitching poster's name, and then select “view all posts by bitching poster”, you can clearly see a pattern of bitchiness. If you see that pattern, just overlook their posts. Who needs all the pointless negative vibes anyway?

People that are here truly asking for help, almost always get it. That is a fact that has been true for years.
