coolsat 5000

Hi everyone,

I am about to buy a Coolsat 5000 receiver, but I heard a few months ago that Dish will soon change all their cards to the new Nagra 2 cards and that will render my equipment useless. My friend told me that the Coolsat doesn't use a card so it will not be affected. Can someone please tell me the current status of the card upgrade of Dish and whether or not I should buy the Coolsat. Thanks.

The current status of any system right now is READ!!!! You are way behind of news, do not totally rely on your friend, even with the best intentions, that is not enogh, please, read and read a lot!!!

ch 199 indicated that only some cams were going to be replaced...assumption was that perhaps only 101's...welll 102 has fallen and indications are that sxx cams aren't going to be far behind...so unless they do another complete card swap (to lord knows what)...fta should be good to go....plus the advantage of being able to play with true fta....that's just my opinion...(hopefully more informative than "go fish")
