View Full Version : How to create virgin eeprom?

I have a 3900 receiver. I have finished the steps for modifying and flashing the TSOP.

I also jtagged it and saved off the original eeprom. I am now at the point where I need to create a virgin eeprom and write it back to the 3900. I'm lost.

I tried opening my saved eeprom in flashedit. I selected EEPROM as the model, I browsed to the saved eeprom file and then I clicked OPEN. All I have for options now are "close", and "save as". "Beginner" and "advanced" are grayed-out. Also, the apply script drop down is blank.

I'm lost and could use instructions on how I create this virgin eeprom.

JT,

Thanks. I'm not a neophyte however and I already searched and read for a couple hours before posting my question.

The post you pointed me too says to open the eeprom and then save the eeprom. That makes absolutely no sense. How does that process make the eeprom a virgin eeprom? Nothing was changed.

If you tell flashedit to save it as a virgin eprom, it makes all the changes for you.

Open your flash in flashedit...then look at where it shows your ird model#...pull that down to EEPROM...click save virgin eeprom! Hope that helps ya!

Peace out!

I'm running FlashEdit 2.1 Beta2. I have the flash open. Model 3900 is selected in the "model" drop down box. I cannot change that drop-down to select "EEPROM" because the drop-down box is grayed out. If I select "save as" the only option available is to save the bin file.

Just to clarify, you are saying to open the FLASH bin and not the EEPROM bin, correct?

You may want to try flashedit 2.1 - beta4. Should be in the download section named FlashEdit-2[1][1].1beta4.

Flash Edit 2.1 beta 4 isn't in the downloads section of this site. Can someone post it or direct me to it please?

The version of flashedit I have is starting to annoy me. It doesn't function as it should because there is no way to get to the point where I can save a virgin eeprom.

I found an old version of flashedit which had the vrigin eeprom option on it. I'm good to go on that issue for now.

Okay...so channel 101 comes in. All of the other channels in the guide look good but I only get a black screen when I switch to them.

To recap, I used jkeys to save the FLASH and EEPROM. I opened up the saved flash in flashedit and I changed the IRD number to R0023245698-16 and the box keys to 87382EC5ACC1047E. I selected ECM fix, and saved the FLASH to a new file name. I then erased the FLAS on my 3900 received and wrote the modified flash to the receiver.

I opened my saved eeprom in flashedit and I saved it as a virgin eeprom. I then wrote it to the 3900.

I then installed my card which already had the Penga rom10to102 written on it and which is working in my 301 receiver.

I just get black channels except for 101. Did I miss anything?

Did you write the correct idea keys to it. If you are using the file that came with the rom10 to 102 you will need to patch the correct idea keys to it.
