I put away my 2700 a year ago. Before I sealed it in the box, I flashed the TSOP to its virgin state. The IRD had not been modified and no locks were installed. In the other words, the IRD was just as good as new. Now I dug it up and hooked up the Jtag. Jeeper could not read it but complained "Failed to enter program mode". I rechecked all connections and tried other Jeepers, 207, 209, 210 with the same dialog box. I ran Jkey. It detected the IRD and report the IRD details including the box keys. It seems the Jtag is good. LPT is 378. I fired the IRD with its married sub. It waits for the satellite signal. I inserted andother CAM, it complained the wrong smart card. The IRD behaved as expected. Why I could not get Jeeper going? What's my problem?

mmm.Jeepers has nothing to with with jtaging the ird . Now you have used jkeys as per your post with box keys shown etc.Now you returned it to vigin state. But the cam is not virgin. Do the proper sa address erase ( sa5 I THINK!!) and resteam with a known sat signal.

My question is that if I could get Jkey reading the IRD, why did I get "Failed to entery program mode" when I ran Jeepers? Normally, this message means there is a bad connection on the JTAG.

As BBAD pointed out, jeepers has nothing to do with the ird, it's function is to program ATmega cards.

My mistake. After a year out of testing. I forgot the basic rules. Thanks.
