looking to cut the trace on the topside.
noticed a few thing in the how to pics. this is obviously a pic of a 508?(1 tsop) that the front and read directions are reversed, and my main concern. i have r44 on my board. i don't see it in the pic between the tsops. do i just cut the trace and not worry about r44?

Not sure which vidmod procedure your using, there are a few but one of them (the one I used) had U7 missing in the picture and a wire attached to a pad for u7 which confused me a bit. Skinerd cleared things up pointing out that board had u7 removed for another reason, and the wire shown should not be there. Just use the picture to locate the proper trace to cut, ignore the wire shown and the missing u7 chip.
The trace that gets cut on the topside goes from u7 pin 12 (about center of U7) across towards u6, disappearing under u6. The traces are very close in that area, easy to cut more than you desire! My 510 has no resistors or other components in the area between the 2 chips, just traces.
I don't have a IRD handy to look for R44. With the ird front facing you, the TSOPS are in the rear center. The trace is between U7 and U6 approx. in the center area. Study the pics carefully, the shape of the traces etc, make sure you get the right one.
