I was a beginner when the Bev systems switched to Nagra 2. So I just unplugged my system and have been watching cable since. I am going to try and get back into this and purchase the AVR-X cards. Which from what I have read is the easiest. Right?
My question is about getting my ird's up to date. If I get my dish repointed to N2 and plug in my ird's for a couple of days, will it update the irds to the latest BEV firmware? or will I have to jtag them? (which I have never done before). They are 2700 receivers.
Thanks for your help.

ARV-X may be the easiest way to go if it works for you. But i would not count on that. Also it does not autoroll and with bev changing the keys a couple times a day it get old quick. The best way to go is with a rom 102. You'll need a modded loader to unlock them and a ISO to program them. The next best bet would be a ATMEGA, Rom 10, or Emulation card. Depending on what you have and how much you want to spend there are several options. Personaly I'd stay away from the AVR-X and all it's problems, but if you want to take the easy way out it's a good option, thats if/when it works. Also FTA receivers are another method that can be farily cheap and stable as of late.

Thanks for the help. I don't know what to do now?? I have an ISO programmer but since the switch to N2 I have purchased a new computer and I do not see any place to plug in my programmer. So I don't know how I would get it to work.

it will update, but as vmod32 said you should j-tag it to dish (bev. takes a lot of maintance every day), the rom 10 is ok , dont roll keys but theres 2DC a patch
that makes updateing keys very, very easy ,atmegs are about the same as 10s , 101s & 102s are best . any way ya go youll need to j-tag. everything you need is here, there, & just about everywhere . i like the 2700,2710,2800 receivers ,i run a few also along w/38 ,39s between the two 2700 is my preffrence . you say your new computer dont have a serial port to hook up your programer? you can put a card in the computer pci port to enable you to use/have that port, you can get an adapter , say usb to serial , printer port to serial -- you get the idea.

I have found someone to fix my 2700 receivers and supply me with 2 programmed rom 102 cards. After he fixes my receivers he will send me updated software to program my cards. I have an iso programmer, it is a black box with a 9 pin cable end and coming out of that is another cable with a female and male circular connector of some sort. The problem is I don't have any 9 pin port on the back of my computer to hook the programmer up to. Nor do I have any place to put the circular connectors into. These circular connectors look the same as the keyboard end. Any suggestions?
