Okay guys, I have this problem. My receiver has the current version (8.29) which was upgraded since last in use during the N1 days. I was hoping to set up an AVR-X with it. I soldered the cable adapter to the jtag (from up top ) in correct order, plugged in AVR-X (after programming of course) but the receiver comes on for about 15 sec then shuts off. No acquiring sat, nothing. Thinking I soldered something wrong, I removed the adapter. Still when I plug it in to see if it will stay on, it is not. I don't know if the software is corrupt or what, but power just cuts off after 15 sec. Even the 8PSK module is not getting power because it does no spin when power is applied.
Please help me bring my 6000 back.
Thanx.

Did you attempt to write to the flashes, or eeprom? The only time my 6000 doesnt power up is when there is a corrupted write to flash 2 and/ or eeprom.

No I never attempted a write. I had it updated in the stream then solder the adapter. That's all

Make sure that didn't screw up a trace while installing the header.

How so?. Nothing sharp was used and I soldered directly on the jtag holes.

heat will screw the traces. the little circle connectors on the board where the adapter goes on.

So how do I fix this (assuning that is what it is)?

Using an Ohm meter, check from the Jtag pad to a different spot on the Mother Board, following a trace to find another spot, to see if there is still a connection between the two.

Just check all the connection point that where you solder. Take AVR-X card and put it in the original card back without sat feed. If it stay on than your avr-x card has too many tiers. hope this helps. Let us know any finding.

Ilavu, it does not even stay on without a card in it but I'll that also.
#40 I'll also try to trace the spots and check for voltage.
Will reply with results later when I get home.
Thanx

Load only one tier and see if it works? I did not say without card but put original card in it to check see it is a tier problem or not?
