View Full Version : Hi JT, Why is Simileingjack Missing ?
seaboard18

It seems that SJ is missing from the forum for the past couple of days. I also noticed that all of his previous posts have been edited, such as No Signature and his Sticky Notes do not contain his signature either. All of the Moderators do a fine job here but Smileingjack has always did a Super Job when other mods were not willing to go the extra mile.
I hope this is just a temporary loss of his service, it will be a very big loss to this testing community if he never returns. I am sure other forum members feel the same way about Jack's service to this testing community. Can you give all of us any positive information as to why he has vanished? Many hundred members gained allot from his Stickys and his Signature which generally had the correct key information.
His disappearance would have not been noticed this quickly if his posts were intact and his signature was still viewable in his posts. That sends up a red flag.
We all appreciate the hard work SJ put in but he may be absent for some time. He has other venues to explore right now and we all will try to fill the gap.

Hi Mili,
Thanks for your reply. I wish Jack the best of luck in whatever he has to take care of in his absence. I am sure that one of the other mods, maybe #40FAN, could add the keys to his signature until Jack's return. He seems to be willing to help out people most of the time. I noticed that quality about him when N1 was history and he tried to help people in the hobby testing 61.5. He is a fine moderator and is also an asset to your community.
Best Regards,
Seaboard
Will ask them.
Yes I will have them for sale over the weekend.

Mods come and mods go,
All while the stream flows,
Cards pop and cards die
In the end we all get by,
Watching TV is not as fun
As getting the whole setup done,
Error 19, Error 20,
SJ showed us plenty,
Times like this make us sad
To many he was like our dad,
Banning jerks highlighting information
All while avoiding confrontation.
In the end he got a life
That's when he left our site

I, too, will miss SJ's unique style, if indeed he is gone for good. Let's hope not, and wish him Godspeed in the meantime.
One thing strikes me a bit odd...Seaboard18, three days ago, you thought SJ was about as useful as a screen door on a submarine. Did you find Jesus or something?
I hope you mean what you say, and aren't just making a laughingstock out of the situation. I considered SJ a friend and if you're serious, kudos to you. If you're just smarting off, may you be blessed with a thrown rod on interstate traffic at 5PM;)

It would appear to some people that SJ and me are mortal enemies. Nothing could be farther from the truth, we are good friends. Jack and I disagree on certain aspects of testing and we voice our opinion to each other about what we disagree about. He has his opinions and I have mine. I have had disagreements with every moderator here, except Cimba. Mili and I had a big dispute over an issue with the AVR-X card. All of us have a goal and that is to help each other so that the hobby of testing N2 will continue to be fruitful.
Mili explained Jack's situation perfectly above in his post. Jack may return someday but until then their are other moderators that will continue to help everyone out in times of need. The other moderators should not be looked upon as unqualified, they are highly qualified to help Mili's members and new members when help is needed
To Woods:
Jack is not dead.
To Bandit5906:
I can't answer all of your question, you need to ask someone else, not me. Although, he did not want people to find the wrong keys in his signature and his stickys.

"I hope you mean what you say, and aren't just making a laughingstock out of the situation. I considered SJ a friend and if you're serious, kudos to you. If you're just smarting off, may you be blessed with a thrown rod on interstate traffic at 5PM".
That reply, within itself is a cold one. Not warranted. I live in the Detroit area. The infrastructure is crumbling. Numerous people have died on the highways. 2 months ago, a woman died when a piece of concrete from an overpass fell through her windshield. Another driver was hurt when a truck drove into a pothole, and steel pipes bounced into his window.
Not everyone was happy with SmilingJack. I was one. My first and last run-in was one I could'nt understand.
I've always tried to help people in a thoughtful, respectful way, and have fun in the process, but when I noticed that too many posts were being deleted, or closed without any real reason, I wondered why. When a member asked in a post, why, I agreed and asked why too. I was banned.
After Mili came back, I stated my case, and he agreed to re-instate me.
So, certain people have had good experiences, others bad ones.
I've always believed in Karma.
I hope JT and #40 Fan do well, and have a good time in the process. :)
Fluffy.

No I am not dead, not yet anyway, but the Dr. Said if I did not take better care of myself I would be soon.
.
Guys I have been on line 16 hours a day for 3 years, 1 at MCS & 2 at mili's.
I am tired and am taking a vacation. I may or may not come back to mod again.
I have let a lot of things at home go for too long and have to catch up,
I ran out of pots and pans to catch the water that leaks in when it rains and have to fix the roof too. (not too bad because it runs out the holes in the floor :)
I edited my signature because I knew the keys would be out of date soon and become a liability, same thing with the 'new key' posts, no one ever edited them when I was not on line and they would soon become bad information.
.
I also ended the crap that was going on here 'my way' and it's time for someone else to worry about it for a while. I am tired.
.
Even other members got tired of people posting the same complaints over and over again in every other thread, I put a end to it and maybe it made some peopele unhappy in the process like fluffy who posted the same complaint in 20 or 30 posts. Add that Martoks & friends antics to that with another 20 or 30 duplicate posts every 10 minutes and it was getting riduclous.
.
It is too bad the people who were tired of it and those thousands I helped in 10,000 posts are not here expressing opinions like the complainers are.
.
Yes TwoStep and seaboard are my friends, just ignore them anyway, theyare both a little strange.
.
BUT Isn't it nice and quiet now ? People can learn and get information again.
.
.
I also have my non-DSS site to take care of and 30 adult XXX sites to feed and water ( and adding more of them every day $$$)
.
I will still be here,
.
THIS IS HOME

SmilingJack,
Your exagerating. It wasn't 20 or 30 posts I or any other member made on the topic. It was 1 or 2, which was agreed on, in reply to another member's new thread. My God, let's calm down. Not every forum is going to be a "Happy, Happy" place. There will be differences of opinion on many topics.
When it comes to the AVR-X, or a Mod's intervention (too much or too little), we have a difference in opinion.
Let's just agree to disagree, and leave it at that.
Peace.
Fluffy :)

My God, I don't know whether to laugh or cry. Hopefully, the mods will put my post (and Fluffy's reply) in the Believe It or Not forum.
SURELY you don't think I meant....oh, shit, I'm about to need an ambulance:D
Seaboard18, thanks for the clarification. I don't follow everyone around so perhaps I didn't understand the relationship between you two guys. My apologies, and peace to ya:)
Fluffy - what can I say? Peace to you too, bro....and if you'll study any automotive repair publication, you'll see that a "thrown rod" has little to do with crumbling infrastructure and hoodlums chunking objects from highway overpasses:eek:
Thanks again, SJ, for all you've done for this forum. You will be missed.

Some of you people are snifiling little bitch's. Crying over what a MODERATOR thought was right at the time AND your still crying over it. SJ was one of the fairest and most helpful mods on this site. We can only hope that Cimba and JT can live up to what SJ has brought to this forum. Mili made a good choice when he made SJ a mod. SJ went above and beyond what a good mod should do. If your wondering SJ is not my friend but I wish he was, he's a good man. Now you snifiling little bitch's want to complain about me like I'm noobee because of my post count, your wrong. A lot of my post's were deleted with the magic card forum. I come to this site everyday and help when I can. On a closing note I hope that Cimba and JT run a tighter ship than SJ did and delete these snifiling post's so the rest of us are not subjected to it. You have a problem with someone take it private and save Mili some bandwith.
SmilingJack I wish you all the best. I do hope that you get better and come back and run this ship again.

Halfway thru this thread I realized I forgot to put baco's on my half eaten salad :(
JT has been here along time longer than most. He will be here long after alot of us are gone.
same with Cimba
And #40 has had a hell of a year helping out the beginers. with alot of paitence.
So yes SJ will be missed by many but we will be ok. He did do a good job with the keys and the banning and deleting.
If people would act right maybe even birdie would be more active He was a great help when the charlie changeover from dave came. He saved alot of peoples ass.
SJ if you see any of my ole friends while your in disneyland tell them I said HI.
Tell chief and 4x4 the f250 they helped with is stroking still :)
tell chapster bev still has better porn
tell mdeven he is still "THE ORIGINAL MAGIC MAN" :) cause nobody kept us posted on the new ecm's as good or as fast as he did when a change was in the stream.
and Kris WTH ever happened to him although not a mod he did try to send emails sometimes.
And what happened to that tuna fish dude story that used to be in dssmilli???
and finally there is two of the smartest testers and mods that choose to stay silent most of the time because they are so smart. skinard and t160hq.
hell I could keep on and on and on but I got to finish this bacoless salad before my milk gets cold
no hard feelings jack hope you get better at whatever it is your doing
Thank you for bringing up t160hq and skinerd fubr. They are most certainly the unspoken hero's of this site. I, and I'm guessing even #40 learned a lot of everything we know about Charlie from those two guys as well as Birdie. Birdie defineately came on at a crucial time as most of us were converting to Charlie from Dave and didn't know our ass from a hole in the ground at that point. We will all miss 4x4. I sincerely wish he would have chosen to continue participating. He was a true life hero even if he wasn't a pro Joe tester.

You should never wish physical harm or property damage to a fellow member.

P.S. I work in the automotive field, and yes I know what a thrown rod is (i.e. connecting rod), but with Mayor Kwame "the never do anything" Kilpatrick, it means carnage on the highways. Good luck & prayers to those visiting for SuperBowl XL.

Please advance my apologies to Major Kwame Kilpatrick. I won't begin to guess who that is - I suppose Texans weren't meant to know such things.
I won't be crying, sorry, but if I've offended you and your fellow 'troiters, then please forgive. How 'bout we return to the gist of this thread, and that's thanking Smilingjack for all the hard work he's put into this forum over the past two years ??

Keltic, Jack once compared me to Hitler in this forum. I never thought I came on that strong but Jack seemed to think so. Seems you have called Jack "Stalin", for using administrative skills and ruthless maneuvering in order to keep control over the sheep. Yes Keltic, Jack was indeed a Super Moderator, one of the best I have ever seen. Jack thought that purging the forum members would create a super member base. Strong leadership is what Jack thought this forum needed and he provided just that. He carried out what he believed to be Mili's will. However, I'm not convinced that all of what he did was Mili's will. In conclusion, Jack was well liked by allot of people in the N1 days. Most of them quit and a few stayed. He did his best to provide a service to this forum.

One thing that testers forget is that general moderators have to know a great deal about all of the aspects of testing, due to the vast number of different methods that are tested. Jack achieved a level of attainment of knowledge so high that it is hardly possible for others to understand the tremendous strain that he imposed upon himself throughout his service to the members of this forum, past and present. Jack was an out stripper of sorts and achieved superiority when it came right down to finding answers to questions asked by the members of this forum. To those who liked his style, show him the same respect he gave to you. To those who bash Jack in a accusatorially manner for his style here, you should be banned.

we are never satisfied . with all the good things we have going for us now it is a shame and a disgrace to see how we all carry on in a time of rejoicement. I can remember a few months back when we didn't have a lot going on there was not as much complaining and whining, we all need to grow up and enjoy all the free knowledge we are receiving here these mods don't have to share anything with us and leave in the dark and i bet with their knowledge they will be watching tv .just enjoy what we have and be thankful
p.s. we are still in the dark as far as Dave is concerned.

You are right seaboard18,
A member can dislike another member or mod, but to wish physical harm or physical damage to property, is not necessary.
A member can mention his disapointment in SmilingJack, like myself, but it isn't warranted to wish disease or harm.
Someone like SJ either envokes like or dislike, there seems to be no in-between.
I'm in the opinion that Mili should close this thread.
It would be a mistake to let it continue.

hehehehe. The first time I checked out this site the Bi Tuna saga was just getting into full swing. (pardon the pun).
I spent more time keeping up on that epic first reality show then reading about testing. Bet you had no idea Mili, you most likely were part of the ground breaking first steps in that now popular format.
After all who needs testing when you got that sort of drama going on.
Can't tell you how many times I thought about taking a trip down south checking out the tuna and her outspoken hubby myself.
Not to partake in the many swap meets they seemed to love. More just to prove to myself that it was true. It was just one of those saga's that sounded too far feteched to be bogus.
Gonna miss ya SJ. Live long and prosper. Can't give you the fleas from a 1000 camels. But, I can get a sizable amount from a cat, dog, and a rather large goat. I and others found it very offensive, don't plan on waiting around for someone to come back online to ask for a change, don't wanna ban anyone either. I think I would cool it on the respect part, after your post about the warning Penga gave. You added your on interpretation of it, and turned it around to include the avr-x and other misinterpetations. I don't think that showed respect to Penga, do you.
And by the way, did you ever show anyone the original post that quoted Penga saying what you posted or were it was posted at?? If you did I think I missed it somewhere!!!!!
Penga made a 500 word post at Rom10x to me personally. Shortly after my post, Penga edited his original post down to two lines. If you want to read it, I'm sure the edited version is still there. I have the original, it would not be fair to Penga to post it again. The information I posted is based on fact that deals with freezing issues on all testing platforms. It does not single out the AVR-X platform, it includes it.

Why would it include the avr-x? Do you know something we don't????
I stated in the original post I made everything anyone needs to know about the AVR-X. This thread is about Jack, its not the proper place to discuss it, sorry.

I am not jumping to any conclusions about Crosshairs personal attributes or past contributions. That one post was over the line and I made a point of drawing attention to that in the least offensive manner I could. I think that this SJ issue has been well discussed and should be put to bed. If any mod disagrees then they know how to fix it back and are of course free to do so.
