Check out darnat's sticky on the 301.013. It talks about grounding pin1 of the jtag port on the IRD. I'ts a bit tricky to do and all the info on how is in the sticky. No need to use the DB9 connector just run a wire to ground from the point described in
the instructions for pin 1.

The power light won't come on but it will allow
reads and writes to the TSOP even if you erased the boot sector.

You still need the vid mod on as well when doing this to allow
for writes to the locked sectors.

SirR on a 2800 you have to ground pin1 to write the TSOP. If you mean the vid mod...no that only
needed on a 301-013.
