View Full Version : Testing my fleabay reciever

I bought a 508 reciever off fleabay. It doesn't have a card with it. I want to test it and ensure it at least gets the preview channels before I start doing any heavy modifications to it. I want to know I have a good reciever before I start doing my stuff to it. However to test it, it needs a card that matches the reciever.

I am an emulation guy and never had to write to a dish card. I go back to the H/HU days and had to write to those cards for emmulation. As such I have an iso programmer (have a loader as well but unsure where it is) sitting here as well as a rom3 card that has never been messed with. I realize I can't test with the rom 3, but it at least should prove the reciever works and gets the previews. My assumption would be I need to change the box keys and the IRD so it matches the new reciever. First question is can I just zero them out and it will remarry (use to do that in the HU days) or do i have to first jtag the unit get the info and write it to the card?

Second issue is I can't read the card. I try to read it in Nagra and it tells me the backdoor is closed. My assumption is I need to run something on it to open the backdoor. I have looked around and most links to old files are gone. Can someone help me out, what do i need to do to be able to read/write to this card?

Thanks
