I have a platinum 3n emulator board. you use to be able to use it for dave
and charlie. anyway, i used it for n1 w/ cemu. does anybody know if this
board will work w/ n2 and the new cemu. or is it a icescraper.

Thanks

If it worked N1 it will work N2 if you can flash it.

i've not seen any public flashes available for the tinyAT2313 on the platinum 3n. sorry...

same way with the original (read: gold lettering and traces) HU Gold III boards. if you happened to get one of the Gold clones, however, you might just be able to flash it with current rom101-based flashes...

seems it was better off to buy the clone after all, huh?

If someone could come up with a way to re-flash the old HU GOLD boards as well as the Platinum 3n boards there would be a lot of happy people out there. I wonder if you could also use the Cube 2 emulators with floppy to run it all, They worked so well for years.
It does look like one might be able to use a Atmega programmer to gain access.

byteeme,

i agree, there are lots of those little jewels out there that could be put to use. you are correct about the atmega programmer in such that the boards have to be programmed via a parallel interface rather that serial, but i'm not sure jeepers will work for the originals. i've read it WILL work for the clones of the gold boards, but not the actual GOLD III, due to the locked (fuse?) bits.

there are lots of confirmed reports of people using the cube II to emulate N2 using cemu.

I've built a emu board with attiny and using it with CEMU n2.

What you use is a MAX MEL flash for 2313. Download ATMEL programmer using AVRDUDE and select attiny emu option. This program will write 2313 flash plus all required fuse values for emu to work.

i'm willing to give this a shot. can you point me in the direction for that progammer software? upload it or PM me? thanks.

Download ATMEL PROGRAMMER2.ZIP and execute the program. Build the recommended programmer that will connect to the parallel port.

Download latest max/mel firmware ie. max2313_n2.hex

remove ATTINY from your hw and connect to programmer.

Please read attiny before programming the device. If possible send me a copy of read firmware to see how file differ from other firmwares.

Click on browse for flash and select 2313_n2 file ... then select write emu for attiny

Done

PS: if attiny was hw locked by manufacture, you will not be able to read or write to IC. Buy a new IC.

do you have those programs you can upload here? or do i just download them from the atmel website? could you provide a link?

i have read posts stating the the .hex codes for the ATTINY's are different than the older atmel AT90S2313-10Px series. do you have a working attiny flash you could share here?

i have a homemade lpt-style programmer with a ponoma clip for connecting to the attiny. i should be able to read it and write to it, but i need the programs and the attiny flash code. thanks in advance.

Glad to see that there is some interest out there to use the old hardware again. Is there anyone out there really using a CUBE 2 to run CEMU for n2?
It was fine for N1. But when I tried to fire it up , it seemed to die on startup (too slow processor I think, 66 tweaked to 100 I believe) A dedicated pc with 1gig processor works without a problem. It would be great to use some of that old stuff again, Ive been using the cubes since the H card days. Remember Auxing cards? And they said it would'nt last. Hu gold and Platinum had pretty good runs too. Every day brings something new to this hobby, Some day I'm actually going to watch some tv instead of sitting here reading all this stuff.
My eyes are still bleeding.......

All files are available here in public downloads.

Atmel programmer2 is found in SCHEMATICS

2313_007 file is found in EMULATOR files

I do not know about the cube... What I know is that the attiny2313-20 is compatible with 2313.

Full disassembly of current max_mel files do not use the USART ( where some difference are found ), Tiny will handle ird clk --> 4.5MHz, and cycles per instruction seems to be the same.

The problems I've had (crashes after few hours) with ATTINY emulator seems not to be hw related.

I'm still not having any luck reflashing the old Hu Gold or Platinum boards.
The Cube with a max/mel seems to not like the n2 stream either,If anyone is having any better luck than I please let us know what you are doing to get it going.I've tried a few different versions of Cemu back to 92a.I'm currently running the rom 10 version.Without a monitor output on the cubes it's tough to tell what exactly is going on. On my working setup i'm using a dedicated PC with a max/mel that I have absolutely no problems with. I would really like to use my Cubes again though.

The cube was nice because of its size but limited.
If small is what you're looking for then maybe try a small form factor computer.
As for the HU Emu, I gave up 2 years ago...lol.
