Ok I've been installing locks on 3100 for quite some time now but these 2 units have me puzzled. The locks I have been using have been the same with the act chips. the problem I'm having is that after the lock install the green light keeps cycling on/off. I have done a search and have read extensively on checking for cold solder joints but man I have come up with no faults. I have double checked everything with an ohm meter. I have cut the trace from under neath the board as I have always done. But still nothing. Then I put trace back and tried it from the top still light keeps cycling any ideas on this ?

Thanks in advance

Why are u using ACT locks on a 3100..these are for Recievers with a 5.0V output...AC locks are required for 3100....3.3v.

Well this is what my supplier had send me . Even though I had specified to him that I needed them for 3100. Are you saying this is my problem ? I did one last week and it worked fine ?
Thanks for response

As far as I know, the AC chip has a range from 3 to 6 volts which makes them compatible with various IRD models.

Hey chapster is it the AC chips that are from 3-6 volts or the ACT that my locks have ?

I have come to the conclusion that it may have something to do with the tsop chips. You see all the other 3100's that I have done had Hyundai brand chips and these 2 that are giving me troubles 1 has Hynix chips which I have never seen before and the other has Amd chips. Am I correct in assuming this may be the problem ? Can anyone else confirm this. ?

It's the AC that are 3 - 6 volts. The ACT are 5.

As for the TSOP chips, I've done all three without problems. I too always used the same lock model. 3 chip AC type (3.3v).
