I have a 5900 and the 120 GB drive died
I replaced with a 80 and am getting the error 041c
I am assuming that it is not married to the drive
This is a subscription just so you know
I am assuming I need to erase flash 1 and let it restream
I have tried to jkeys it and get the readings with the 5800 jkeys, but when I try to flash program it always says " flash codes returned are not recognized by jkeys. MFG / Device codes returned are 1 / 2250 (JEDEC) and 103 / 3130 "
Does anyone know what this means? or is there an deasier way to get the harddrive to marry?
Try this:
First, save your current TSOP & EEPROM.
Then, flash an early TSOP version of your build to marry the hard drive.
(Simply flash it and reboot IRD without the dish coax connected for a minute.)
Next, reflash with your saved TSOP.
I think this will work without using a vidmod. At any rate, you won't do any damage by not using vidmod.
Let us know how you make out.

I agree save tsop and eeprom ( nice to have something to fall back on ) But a new drive is not that simple. This is a 501 so you will probably have to Jump OJ1 to write flash 2. The choice of drive is important.
I used a MAxtor 80 Gig 7200 rpm, liquid bearing drive model 6L080L0
brand new made in Dec 2005, no need to zero out
Use 063 with your current number for the reciever ( bk and ird # ) and an atmega with and old rom 3 number. with the same ird and bk
plugged in drive after flash
check switch then turn off reciever and let it stream to 304 with the atmega.( you can do it with your card I guess but not sure if 063 will recognize it) ( wait wait wait ) go away, have coffee , it may take awhile.
then inserted rom 102 and tv with 508 dvr funtions, timers work
remember not all drives work ,

That was my plan, but can you tell me how to do this if i cannot get into flash programming as stated in my first post?

one more question. it was a maxtor 120 gb
If I just throw in a new maxtor 120, will this just recognize it?

problem is can you use an 80gig on a 510? i didnt think so because the 510 is looking for the 120gig. if you use an 80 you might have to convert your box to a 508 to get it to work. skinered can confim this.

You can put an 80 gig into a 510, it will report onscreen as a 508, but will still softwarewise be a 510.
