Running rom102 with s/w P304 after marring HDD.......initially works fine but overnight HDD gets damaged - the original one and then a BRAND new one (starts clicking, etc.). Any thoughts, fault HDD power supply in receiver? ECM?

Strange! I would rule out ECM, others would be having the same problem and there are no reports. I use 510's with no problems so far. Second, I wouldn't assume the drives are "damaged" without further tests... Try hooking them to a pc and using the manufacturers HD utility to see if the drive responds. The question is if the drive is hardware damaged, or just the software on the drive corrupted. The power supply is possible but a long shot, you could verify the voltages at the 4 pin power connector on the main pcb. If you could locate one, I would try a new data ribbon cable, the one from the main pcb to the drive, they are a common problem in PC's, wouldn't hurt.

This would be a good one for Skinerd to chime in on with his thoughts.... That guy has pretty much seen-it-all..... His opinion is highly respected.

Have tested both HDDs with Maxblast4 and both are now damaged....both were tested by Maxblast4 and "passed" b4 re-marrying to 501. Will check power connect and change data cable.......will post results.
