I'm plagued by the 0412 Error. I found this thread:

I did the quick test and it said HDD Past Testing.

Will this work:

Re-Initialize the Hard Drive (erases all recorded content)
With your remote, do the following sequence quickly:
Menu->6->3->Info->Browse->Theme->Play->Play->Recall
Note: hold the Recall button a couple seconds for it to activate.

I just got my 501 to work, finally and don't want to mess things up. Has anyone tried that?

I'm not sure what you are trying to do.
You say that you are getting error 0412, then on the bottom you say u got your 501 to work.
You need to apply virgin flash and eeprom to the ird that should get rid of that error.

Although my 501 displays all channels, only the pvr functions don't work i.e. error 0412

Did you write a virgin eeprom?

i have a problem with my 508, after putting in a virgin tsop the record light stays on and doesnt take the update in the stream. is there something i can do to fix my receiver?

You didn't write a good flash to the IRD. Do you have the original? Why did you put a virgin flash on the IRD? Have you programmed IRD's before.
