As of Feb 1st Dishnet has started a new "Prepaid" program. A customer can now outright BUY a Dish 500 with a single 301 receiver without any credit check, Credit card, SSN number, or anything for 99.00 dollars ( Dealer cost is 49.00, So dealers make 50 and are happy to sell them ). The new prepaid program uses a new "Dish Now " Access card which costs 30 dollars ( Dealer cost 25 ), and provides 30 days of AT60 programming, After the customer purchases another card to continue. Simple as that.
It has been awhile since you could actually "OWN" your system since everything was converted to just "Leasing" the gear at upon cancelling service Dish would take the equipment back.
Should be interesting to test out these new 30 day cards.

Sounds like they want to tap the illegal alien :) market and the poor folks too.
A untapped billion dollar market, the people on their blacklists or who have outstanding bills with them and people in other country's like Canada can also buy them. I bet BEV will LOVE this twist.
Hmmmmm I wonder if the cards can be re-written to extend their dates or maybe add more channels, like wide open ?

Cannot wait to get my hands on some of these cards although they just started feb 1 and being 30 day activations used ones will be about a month away still.
They are looking to tap into the 10 million plus potential customers that do not have credit cards, SSN,Checking account, Or poor credit/No credit that otherwise dishnet would not serve under the other programs.
At60 is the only package, No 19.95 dish family or 120,180 packages prepaid.

It will be interesting to see how it functions since it sounds like a new dish now card would be non reciever specific. Would it marry ird or could we move the card to other recievers? Hummm if we went wanted to could we buy and use a dish now card in existing equipment? I'm curious

Birdie you actually watch that channel. I barely have time to switch to that channel while all the others are open.
LOL, Yeh I was up late and either saw everything or all the paid programming crap was on..... 958 channels of crap so retailer chat.
Installer doesn't get a commision so I don't know why they would install dish now unless rat crap is charging extra.

Does anyone know what retailer(s) will be selling these packages? I called a Radio Shack in the U.S, they told me that all units are ordered and payed for in store but the installer brings the equipment to the house.
