Oj1 just need a jumper to write flash 2 etc. if you run it to a switch its alot easier , jumped to program unjumped for normal, Oj1 is about center ird slightly left ,. look for the metalic cryistal oval can its right near it

NEVER flip the switch when the power is applied. Unplug the power cable, flip switch, then plug back in.

Miceros, look inside ird and check U6 and U7 chips, If they read on top of the chip AM29DL323DT, your 501 doesnot have to be vid modded. If they read AM29DL323GT your 501 will have to be vid mod.

PT2,
What exactly does the vidmod do? I was under the impression that it was only required for blue card testing when they were still working. Is it still required for yellow card solutions?

hmmmmm quote from one of Skinerd's posts

"GenDT08 will help you set up a PVR with you own numbers, but without a married card you'll need to write some generated info to the flash, I am not real sure if the locked sector needs any changes, but I believe it does, so a vid mod would, I think, be needed.

I always vid mod when writing flashes, so I can't be for certain if it is really needed or not, I put it so I can have full access, just in case I change my methods later."

Dude chill. ;)
Just go to the files section and find the file called "501_vid_easy.pdf".

If you have not paid the $25 for VIP membership, then you may have to hunt around a bit to find it. VIP members have a search feature. I just did a simple search for "vidmod" and it returned several how-tos.
I don't really know what part of the public files section it is in.

Don't worry, I won't clutter up your plea for help with any further posts.

Thank for you help. I tried to do the easy vidmod on my 501 and installation did not go through. I was able to sold point B but point A, the existing solder came off and now i can't sold any cable to it. I was trying to accomplish the easy Vidmod, 1 cut 3 cables, but i guess the easy way cost more!

Is there a way to access point A from the top of the motherboard? I was able to trace point B, on the top and not luck finding point A. (See easy vidmod graphics for reference on Point A & B).

Now, I'm left with a 501 receiver, empty TSOPs and useless AVR-R.

Please help me, I'm not giving up!
