ok, here is whats going on..
i had my dish 6000 converted to bev a few years ago, used it right up till nag2 hit.
i now have a syndrome on the way to me so i figured i better hook up the 6000 and get it updated.
i did a sector erase and hooked it up to the stream to force an upgrade....no sat signal or switch detected, i know there is a signal as the dish has not been touched since last time i used it and the sw21 switch is protected against the elements.
so i took it a step further, found a current bev tsop, reflashed my receiver with virgin eeprom and new flashes..hooked it up to the stream...no sat signal or switch detected.
any ideas????
any and all help is appreciated...
thank you

Would you have another receiver, even a DN receiver, to verify that a signal is indeed coming in. Sometimes corrosion builds up at the connections, even at the dish that might prevent a signal. Since you had it previously on Bev, I`m sure the 8PSK is removed. All I can think of, but I will let you know that the syndrome works great in the Bev6000 with all the HD open.

i have tried a tsop with bld confg cnda and i'm still not getting any sat signal or switch detected, hooked up my sat finder and getting full strentgh signal.
when in flash edit and it asks to enter build config from sticker, should i put in the "cncd' or the new 'cnda' ? i don't know if it makes a difference being that this was a dish receiver....also when i open the bins to enter in my box keys etc, should i change the build cnfg to match my sticker?

I would try to find a CNCA/D TSOP. I have never tried running a TSOP with a build different from the build on the board, but I would think you would have to enter CNDD (build normally ends in D) if your TSOP says CNDA. Don`t know why it would not recognize the signal though.
take the sw21 out and try it with just one bird.
reflash it with the current tsop again makink sure you use a virgin eprom for your build

i was able to find a 'cnca' tsop for my 'cncd' build
reflashed with virgin and current tsop, still no signal or switch detect.
my switch is up on the roof so i will have to try and crawl up there, but if the switch is toast would i still get full signal strength on my sat finder i'm using?
i hooked up my sat finder inside and got full signal.
i will crawk up on my roof and try that...
Thanks Dave and fubr, you guys helped me out a lot awhile ago when i was just getting started, thanks for the help again...

well i got up on the roof, disconnected the switch and hooked up the sat finder, signal jumps to 9-10, same as with the switch hooked up...so now i'm stumped..

Do you have another sat feed, maybe DN, to see if the 6000 will see that feed?

no i dont
it should still show sat signal even if i'm using an old card right?

Yes, as long as you can get into the menu even using a blue card. Maybe a direct short or something at the dish making it read signal on the meter, but not a real signal that the receiver sees. Might even have to take it to a friends that has a signal for sure to see if receiver will recognize it. Sorry, kinda out of ideas, but hope you get it going.

Dude I 've Got ask the Question that you Didn't answer From a Previous Poster , Since you Used it on Bev Prev that means you Had to Take the 8PSK Module out and used the Sat Connector Below it ( the one thats Built into the Receiver , Not Removable Like Modules) , Now Did you Put the 8PSK Module Back in ? ( You need it with DIsh , Also its the Module w/o the Fan ( Smaller One, and has A Tab that Hangs over the Other Sat connector ( the one below that you used with Bev ) so you can plug anything into it , only the 8PSK Module , IF your 6000 is a COuple years old and hasn't been USed on DIsh for Several Years , there's a Chance you Might Not Hav Got an 8PSK Module when you bought your 6000 , in which Case you would Need to buy One ( oh and Also Your not Plugging it up to the 8VSB Module ( the OVer the Ait Tuner (OTA) ) by mistake , its the one that more in the Middle,, Just throwing out suggestions! Remember Bev = NO 8PSK Module , DIsh = Yes 8PSK Module

all is fixed!, it was the F*ckin sw21 switch, it was giving me false readings on my sat finder..
no i never took out the 8PSK module, just bent up the cover and plugged in below it, works like a charm.
thanks for all the ideas and help, even though a lot of what i tried didn't need to be done...i sure learned a lot of new stuff!
thanks!!
