WHen using the DOS version of the CEMU 101.5, is there a way to tell when to fire up the ird at the right time? i know on the old version you would hear a tone letting you know when to power on the ird.

No there is not. I assume your not using a monitor. If you are, You plug in your Ird after you get an ATR on your screen.

You could time it the first time to see how long it takes you to get an ATR if you do not want to use a monitor.

when the floppy quits reading (light goes off), then trigger your IRD.

There is no need to worry about timing or when to power up the IRD. Plug the IRD and the slave computer into a power strip by itself and then turn it on and off as needed. Once cemu 101 or any cemu version you are using in pure dos loads, your IRD will become authorized and it will acquire the satellite signal. If you have a power failure, it will re-boot automatically. Basically, you power up or reset the system all at one time.

if the computer is somewhat newer and the BIOS allows for auto-power on following a power failure then yes, that would work as long as the cemu program was loaded fully before the IRD timed out from not reading the PC data giving an error 019. older computers' BIOSes generally did not have that power-on feature anyway. so the general idea is to wait for the ATR once cemu loads, then trigger your IRD.
