I can get my hands on a free one. I will be running a superdish with 110 & 119 on it along with another dish for 61.5 all with an atmega 128. However after reading so many threads until my eyes bled, I recall reading a few problems out there with these reaceivers I just can't remeber where.

I know that the receiver will come for free but is it worth the headache or should I just get a 301 to run these 3 birds???

Your thought please!!!!

I have 2 301.13's I will trade you for a 510. But really the 510's arent that bad, probably have to do a vid mod on that thing, unless its already been done. I havent done the vidmod on a 510 but it shouldnt be that bad.

Functionally, a 510 is a 301 with a hard drive..... Depends what you want, if your not going to use the dvr feature then the 301 is much simpler to mod and will work just as well. The 510 is the hardest to mod, most skill needed. Which sats your going to watch and with what dish, really has nothing to do with it, the IRD's are all the same in their sat-handling ability/methods. The "problems" you recall reading on the 510 are no doubt "operator errors", as stated, these are the most difficult to mod and screw-ups are common. Its not the 510, its the ability of the person doing the mods that causes problems. That includes their "ability" to read up first.

I have both, and really like the 510 a lot. Each has its merits. You said FREE, so why not take it, even if you don't use it right now?
