hi everyone, i am a newbie but i try to read as much as i can before i post anything. here is my problem; first i hook up my jtag to applicable contacts ,then i ground with alligator clip on screw at bottom of case, power up jtag then open jkeys , program starts but it doesn't recognize my receiver ( unknown device ) ,tried get device id but it stays the same ,by the way i read on some thread that asus motherboards could cause a problem , that's what i have ( a7v) anyone HAS success with same motherboard !

no idea about the asus motherboard

But definitely had the "unknown device" problem when jtaggin 3100.10

It usually, or actually always, meant that I was doing something wrong.
bad tsop, bad eeprom, bad connection on jtag, bad something, had to to keep trying and retrying and eventually came up with something that fixed it. good luck

You could try opening the tsop in flash edit, see if it lets you or maybe it will warn you that there is something wrong with it

Go to your ASUS Bios during start up of your computer. Do this by pressing the "delete" key as it's booting. You must enable you Parallel Port to get it to work. I just had the same problem. The ASUS MB doesn't enable that port by default because so few programs use it anymore.

Try using your jtag in WALL2. I have had stubborn irds that jkeys wouldnt see and I opened them in WALL, erased and programmed fine. Usually it is needed for 3100 but I did have a 2700 that was being nasty. Once it has been erased in wall, jkeys has been fine.

Finally did it , thanks for the advice PRCHOICE tried it but would'nt work ,good news is i finally got it, bad news is i AM not too sure what happened, 1st thing i have to mention is that whenever the ird was plugged in the green light would always stay on i was told that it was because my software was out of date.here i what i did.....

1) removed cover

2) hooked my jtag without the ground, plugged the ird , started Jkeys..... results : unknown device as usual!

3) i noticed that the case is making contact (ground) with the pc board at 4 places on the sides of the board.

4) took the jtag grounding lug and touched one of these ground ...... . green light shut off , BIZARRE!

5) unplugged ird

6) grounded jtag to the screw that's making contact to the board.

7) stopped jkeys

8) plugged ird

9) started jkeys and ....... SURPRISE...... all the info appeared YESSSSS.

10) save tsop , reopened tsop and erased sector SA5 according to my ird model 2700. Put ird in stream and it took the update i am now at version e509.

I don't understand the logic of that but if it can help someone I'm glad.

Now i have another question , i have a 2700 receiver i will be running with an atmega and want to receive bev, i know there are many tsop mod out there but don't know which one to use . if someone can help me with this one i would be very happy!

Thanks in advance!
