Picked up an ex subbed 311 last weekend. No remote came with it. Today I plugged it in and it immediately goes to searching for satellite and keeps cycling thru transponders (with or without the sat feed coax hooked up). I'm using a DishPro Quad LNB. The panel states the Satellite setting is DEFAULT. I can't get the IRD to respond to a remote. I used to (on 301's) be able to press Sysinfo or Menu when it fired up to get to the menu screen in order to start a switch check and find the remote address in Sysinfo.
How to get by this hurdle? Anybody got any ideas?
I have tried changing the remote address in the remote one setting at a time 1-15. Question - is 1 or 01 correct to use? Does it matter?
Any suggestions would be welcomed.

Take the tuner box top off inside and look and make sure the solder there that goes from the board to the sat in coax feed isn't broken right there inside the box. I have seen this on 311's and they won't get a signal with the signal line feed broken. I just resolder it and then it works.

You can cut that rom102 chip out with it still on the board with tin snips real easy and glue it onto a bootload and use it as a rom102 in a different receiver.

I already desoldered it. That's my plan. I've plenty of wafer cards to use it on. I need the pin out of the bga chip to do it. And of course the right stuff.
Thanks,
