running atmega on USB or serial port

My desktop died on me and My Laptop have USB and serial port on it..I want to program atmega…which runs on Parallel port ..how should I do that…? Any help will be appreciated.

You can purchase various types USB to serial port adatpers. Don't know about the Atmega, but it doesn't work with the AVR-X.

most programs are only wrote to work with the serial port not usb if you can code or know some who can maybe they could do it for you? it would be nice if we could switch from one to the other:)
