Since I got a lot of requests and since they are the best in the business at this time I am now cooperating with ROMCODE offering the blocker/tier/programmer in the store. It took some time negotiating how I can keep my customers' identity secure from third parties but they have been very cooperating and courteous accomodating my paranoia. This way you can get the best blocker and yet pay at the most confidential store in this business. I started a forum that will offer extensive help for the users. Please understand that since there never was any damaging ECM specifically targeting ROM cards we can't predict how anything will hold up in case poop happens but we will adapt (that is the most anyone can claim in this hobby). I love thier interface combining writing cards and EASY tier creation with the added security of a private code. Lets hope this cooperation will be the most satisfying for all parties involved.

Just a question about your new blocker service. I have been running 301.010 with a rom 102 for about 2 months now with no problems. Is there a reason why I would need this service. Is there a ECM that I don't know about that would require me to have a private blocker, now or in the near future.

Thank You for your time

Landos- I totally agree w/ you. rom102's AT THE MOMENT are running very smoothly. program one and your good to go for 2+ months. You are forgetting that selling another service is nothing but business. if people demand a product, why not sell it whether it is needed or not?

Is there a reason why I would need this service.

It's insurance, Landos. A bit like an automobile liability policy. It's a waste of money and does nothing - until you run over somebody's ass.

Charlie most certainly has the ability to loop cams, and has merrily done so in the past with Nagra1 cards. Who knows why they aren't doing so at the moment. It could start tomorrow, or a year from now - or never. You might never be in a car wreck, but should you be you'll be glad you bought that policy. Right now, that's all the PB service is - insurance.

If you can afford to lose a Rom102 - well then, you might not want to fool with it.

mili,
will this service allow me to use my own bin and tiers and just apply a blocker? meaning can a reactivated xsub or a bin i created with dt08 and my own tiers be used?

But I think I will take my chances on what I am using now and save the money I would spend on the private blocker to pay my car insurance!!!:D

Thanks for the replies

I would think that, given the lawsuit that the govt has handed Dish, they will be working on a way to re-secure their service and not just for the FTA bunch either. We just have to wait to see how nasty it is this time.

It may not fubar your 102 or it may be another "black Sunday" and most will be SOL. Time will tell!

If you are already up and running on a ROM102 ad feel comfortable with public freeware then you are straight. If you would like the simplicity of programming a ROM101 or 102 with this interface and would like the added safety of a private code and prefer stuff to be hand delivered to you in a timely manner instead of hunting around then get the Private Blocker. As I said earlier nobody knows what will stand up and when to what ECM which may come out in the future. There was a demand for a PB so I arranged for one.

Quite right and I was mearly repeating what had been mentioned elsewhere regarding Dish.

Now about the rest of my post I stand by that: Dish knows the deal and I am sure it is unhappy that it's system has been compromised. I also believe that they will take steps to try to re-secure their system.

Perhaps you would like to bash me on that also?

I agree that it is a good idea: it is less than the price of a card or one month of Dish and prolly more secure than the public software.

Mili,I been a member here for a few years.I myself, have been using romcode, for about a month.Just wanted to try it out. It is a great service, from what I can see.It is very easy to use(anybody can use
it)I feel the unexpereanced at testing will find it a great way to watch
tv.In the month,I lost only ppv's 1 time.went online,ran the update,popped the card in,less than 2 minutes,was watching tv again.While I miss the old
Mili private blockers from the past. This is just so simple and safe,to this point
anyway,I cant help but enjoy it.Like I said,For newbies and lazy peeps,its
great.

Dose the private blocker program allow you to program your own boxkey/ird # to the card instead of changing the tsop? For example if you have a virgin 102 can you enter your box key and model # to the card?

I am not sure you can but the idea is to get ready made things and easy application.

I have 4 ex subed receivers . before i bought A2 cards at the subscription time but those cards I put in garbage. then I open those my cams ,used tiermaker applied blockers and all 4 are working with thier same IRD numbers and cam IDs . I dont want to make "NO RSA " to these receivers. I ask milli do U have any solution if Romcode can work. other thing do U supply a bin file or a blocker . actually I need a autoroll blocker for these cards . thanks.

i sure dont want to be negative but i have two other peeps that i have been helping get this romcode going, and they are very green and not too computer savy after about 45min. i at least got one going and all that it needs is key changes.. the other trying to set up a trip down there to see whats up with it. the romcode was up on the 5th and down on the 6th and some unexperienced testers are still down.

but for me not having much time romcode is the best thing. i do feel safer with my 102 in the stream.

OMG! What could be simpler than doing a C&P of the keys into the setting.ini file and then reprogramming?

If you can't do that, well then.....(choke that chicken)?

this guy had a stroke about 3 months ago and cant seem to get his mind back in it.. just trying to help him.. but i dont want you to choke on my chicken anymore till you know how to do it right..

We all have our issues. Given that you have chosen to help these peeps, just write it down and show them. For the guy with the stroke write it very large as his vision is usually impaired!
