I have two DP 311 ird's. I have three questions regarding these.
1.What kind of ROM card do they use?
2.I never used the smart card reader while I was a subscriber but if I buy one of the clean ROM cards for programming, would it work in these?
3.Would an Atmega 128 modification work with this receiver.
I don't know what to do with them since I'm new to the satellite world.
Currently I use an FTA and it works well, I just want to use these in some other way than watching them collect dust.
Thanks, Thanks, thanks for your reply!!!:D

311 is a cardless receiver, it uses a rom102 chip soldered to the board. But they left all pertenant lines exposed and so these can be wired and glitched just like a rom 102 card. Provided they are exsubs, and have been out of the stream long enough to be rev 283 or lower.
New, never subbed 311s are not testable as you cannot obtain the boxkeys from the receiver, and the card chip will not have them either. There is no jtag possibility yet so you can't read or edit the flash chip either.

Skinerd thanks for the reply. These were cancelled two weeks ago, when I got my fta ird. What are the items needed to do the modifications you listed above. I have time and only need the direction to modify these. I appreciate your quick response.
thanks again,
DF
PS. Does exsub mean, previously subscribed for dish service? If so the answer is yes. :)

U need the unlocker, just like the rom102 cards. It has to be wired in temporarily to unlock the chip. Then u need an iso programmer to program it, save the bin, add tiers , apply a blocker (private blocker prefered for better safety against attack mode ecm's) and write back to the chip. All the details are available.
Since your receivers were activated they are ready. If they hadn't been activated at least once you would not be able to do this. A jtag would be required to activate it in that case.

Recent subs gave the chip at 102 rev 284, and can't be unlocked as of yet.

Hey Skinerd,
Can a never subbed 311 be cloned from another 311?Sounds like it could.
