ird 2700/8.51/eepromlock/tsoplock/avr x 2.04
1.tried updating like usual, unlocking the switches/it starts downloading and programming but it still stays at 8.51(tried it 10 times)
2.tried to let it update 6/3 left tv/video etc etc
it starts downloading and programming but stays at 8.51(tried it 5 times)
3.erased sa5 3 times ,reconnect it the green light comes on
but keep getting just a blank screen for hours!

when I erase the flash complete and restore my 8.51 backup
it's working again(meaning 6 hours ON/blank screen/unplugging/6 hours on etc)

any suggestions how to solve this problem??
thanks

I downloaded 2700capd854 from the filessection and made the necessary changes with flashedit. Then It's a little bit unclear to me do i just write this
changed bin(512kb) to the tsop or do i have to change and write the
eeprombin(2kb) also???

The update should have worked from dish or Bev. I think your locks wrote something to the eprom, causing the firmware to detect that the IRD modified in some way. Make sure the locks are disabled. If by chance the eprom had a softlock applied to it at some time, it will have to be restored to a virgin.

If you can, restore your IRD to the original tsop and eprom, then take the update. If you can't do this, write a virgin eprom with flash edit and then take the update. You should be able to do a no RSA Mod once you have the update.

Once you get the IRD in its original state, before you do the No RSA Mod, you should be able to get the 101 channel and the PPV preview channels. This will tell you the IRD is working again, then do your mod.

Dont have to change the eprom bin use it as is if it is a virgin. But do need to make one while you are in flashedit, It is easy and quick.

only have to change ird and box keys in the tsop using flashedit if it is not already changed.

long as it is flashing light should be updateing.
Wierd shit I got one doing same thing now.
Seems you need a married card for it to update matching the build config and bootstrap.
gonna let this one sit till after I eat then try something else???

I had one 2700 that would not update using the erase SA5 . Finally I flased back a a tsop from the bank and selected update without my permission and let it sit overnight, next morning 854-N. Hope this helps---ollie

I mentioned to JT back a couple of months ago that erasing certain sectors would not help these situations. I tested the erase procedure on two different IRD's and they never updated. I ended up reflasing the TSOP in both cases to revive the IRD's. Its my opinion that erasing sectors is a bad idea now. There is not a good map available to determine which sectors are the correct ones to erase at the moment. What worked for N1 may not work for the N2 stream.

However, if anyone decides that erasing sectors will help in such a case, you should save a backup of the sectors so that you can restore those original sectors. This may save you from having to do a re-flash of the tsop.

I finally flashed my tsop FULLy and eprom and let it sit flashing for awhile.
The card HAD to match the numbers on the idr.

And no the sector erase has failed me threee times now.
I have updated to a new rev with a rom 10 card from the ole days that was married to the ird, it was set to receive updates.

seems now you pretty much have to flash a full tsop and eprom.

I used the 854 bin from the download section, changed the irdhex/irdno/boxkeys/buildconfig and marked crc fix.did a full erase and wrote the bin to the tsop.flashing green light for hours!!!DID i do something wrong?
can I let it update with my avrx in it or better use an old rom 10?

You should let your IRD take the update from your satellite provider. If you can, re-flash the original bin back to your Ird. Then take the update and do your mod as you have described.

It is already at 854, there is no update. If you are trying to switch to bev, you dont need card to update.

Oke I restored my backups and I am now back at 8.51 (ird=2700) I want to update my firmware.
I tried : to let it update by itself, doesn't update
: erasing sa5 :doesn't update
: erasing the whole flash and reflashing it with the 8.54 bin
from the files section:only flashing green light for hours
Fubr what's the best way to proceed now??

thank you

flash it with 854 and a eprom if it came in the file. if not make a virgin.. Change the box keys and ird# in the files before you write it.(get them from the file your going to use on the card

write a card that has the ird# at least and boxkeys would be nice.

since you got avr-x in first post I am not sure what Ird# you need to use or if the avr-x will marry or ird update with a certain one.
If you got a card write a bin and blocker to it. if not use the old ird# and box keys you had before.

CoJones tried for days to update his ird with no jtag finally it did with a card in it that was for that ird.

keep trying different things and give it 30 minutes to flash(blinking light)
The sector thing INHO is not doing the job right now so go ahead and flash to current..
Be sure you got a signal on the ird or nothing will happen.

If you flash with 854, there is no update more current than 854.

He is getting blinking light after flashing with 854??

Its going to flash until he gets the eprom correct with the correct version. He could try to update the IRD to a 2800 or 3700 they use same firmware. Build config must match. This may work better than what he has now. I think he can update it, but I have never tried to do it, so I don't know for sure if it will work. However, he has nothing to lose.

I had one flash even though I had a virgin eprom in it.
A 301 and a 6000, something else can cause it I just have not figured it out.

this past attempt the 301 I flashed witrh a virgin more than once. only flashed(blink) Finally I left it and went to my daughters and time I was back it said Congrats you got a dish 500.....dint even boot up to channel 100

fubr

sorry channel 101 I meant..
What could be causing this?

Seen more than one person have the problem including me.

maybe it is the new firmware.

What is your build sticker from ird?

wim3324

build sticker from ird = CASD
If I read my 8.51 tsop bin it reads CASA!

Try this link(NO OUTSIDE LINKS)
there is a b*ll build casa that should update after erase sa5.
Change the ird# , bk and build to satvia norsa and erase sa5. It will update to dish then write card and go.

easiest way i have found is to just change boxkeys ird number and use a no rsa NO MOD SCRIPT and once you run a switch check turn the ird off and it will start updating

wim
use the last three links in my sig.
will help you understand alot more than reading one post answering your question.

to make it update you have to find the sector for your model and erase it.
or flash a older firmeware to it and stream it (plug coax in) and charlie will update it for you. (they nice)
