I have 2 computers. The first one does not have a serial port. The other does, but it is in the "indention" in the back of my computer, and the programmer will not plug in. The programmer is the one from mili's sight that is included with the ROM102. Will a serial to usb adapter be okay to use with the programmer? Or is there another solution?

Why won't it plug in to the port?Is the port too far inside the back case? If so,your motherboard is not installed correctly. Try opening the case and see what going on in there. You might be able to do something with the backplate cover to get more room. Serial to USB adapter are not a good choice. You might be able to use a PCI serial port card

Its a dell and the back of the case has about 3"x6" indention (goes about 1 inch in) that has all of the connecters on it (ie, monitor, usb, printer, etc). Any suggestions?

So,all the connections are in this "indented" space in the back.I think I know what you mean, but what exactly is keeping the serial plug from plugging in? There must be other thing plugged in there right?
