firefox issue

Is anyone else having trouble with this site and firefox?

Just last week, I started having a problem on both of my PCs where when visit www.dssftp.com, the page loads just fine, but when I click on any of the links, I get "The connection to the server was reset while the page was loading."

Just wondered if I was the only one. :) I'ts probably me.

It's got to be a settings issue or a firewall issue on your end. I know you know a lot about this stuff. I'd guess it's a setting under tools-->options-->privacy-->cookies. If your not familiar with all those options in Firefox you should get acquainted with them. Under the content tab, you may need to enable java too. Or may even be that you have your cache set to 0 or something strange like that. Never ran into this specific issue so I'm kind of guessing here. Some things to check though. Please let us know what clears it up in case anyone else, like me for instance ;-), ever has the same issue.

It must be something with the settings. My laptop doesn't do it but the desktop does. Both running Firefox but the laptop has windows 2000 and the desktop has XP. The desktop just recently took and update from windows and i thought must have changed something. Havent figured it out yet but leads me to believe it is a setting problem. Mine says "document contains no data" when i click on the foums link. Post here is you figure it out as will i.

i have had problems w/ firefox running super slow., so i added opera...man is it fast...and cool i might add

UPDATE:

Thanks guys for the feedback. I believe I have it fixed on my desktop. Normally, I try not to change too many things so I know what actually fixed the problem, but this time.....:(

Anyway, it was somewhere in the cache or cookies. I cleared all things that could be cleared in the privacy tab. I mean EVERYTHING! Cookies, History, Download, Cache.....

After that, it seem to start working right away. I suspect there was some corruption somewhere that is gone not.

Hey Squig: Do us a favor and on your desktop pc, try clearing these things one at a time, and then restarting firefox each time and testing here on the site. Let us know which one clears the problem up, if any. I think you are right about the update messing with something.

I had the same problem. I cleared cookies and that seemed to do it

tossing cookies helps me sometimes.
I like firfox better but have not yet tried to figurre out how to get spell check and roboform to work on it.

why would my firefox be running so slow? like 5-6 secs to open each site, have seen 26 secs to open a site. i have broadband, i installed fasterfox...granted i did download alot of extensions that i deem useful, but could that be my problem....i went to about:config and did what i was suppose to to make faster...increase # in network pipeline etc, and other read about speed boosts. need help!

Running firefox 1.0 on a Mac (no Windows involved), was having the same problem. "contains no data," though it happened only on the front page and with search. I could go into forums and open up threads.
anyway erased just the cookies and it seems to be working good now

moneyfarmer0, it sounds like something that happened along the way. You said it ran fast before. I would try to remove things one at a time and see if that works. I have Fasterfox too but mine runs pretty quickly so it's probably not that.

Just for fun, on my other Mac w/firefox, which was also having the same problem, I tried cleaning cookie by cookie.
Started with the cookies from this site and the first two didn't make any difference but when I took out dssftp "referer" cookie that solved it
so that would seem to be the offending cookie

could have been something on the server that was updated or something and it messed up some of our cookies.

reguardless JT has a warm fuzzy feeling and you'all got your firefox back up.

It looks as if the site may use dissmili.com in the dns for the site to transfer properly. Some of you may have noticed that dssftp.com would give you the main page. Otherwise, you would get a bad referrer page, no dns would be translated. However I do not find a DNS record at all for dssftp.com in my dns server, only dssmili.com. Can't say for sure because I don't have time to find out why the cookie did not work. I do know that using a proxy server, mili's new cookie did work once it was sent. Its really unimportant as long as the site will transfer once the old cookie was removed and the new one was accepted. However, everyone would need the new cookie if this occurrence happens again at a later date. Cable systems for internet also can cause dns translation problems and could be the root of this problem as well. It's only necessary to delete the dssftp cookies, not all cookies unless you want to do house keeping. IE also had problems, so remember, there are two sets of cookies for your browser(s) if you use more than one. As far as I can tell, a Unix server was not affected because the new cookie was sent to the server.
