REVISED May 8, 2006
Use V.1072 or later bin for auto roll keys

Most of the information provide here is not my work, but was gathered from this and other DSS sites, my thanks go out to all of those who have provide the help.

Lets Do It:

************************************************** *
Things you need.
************************************************** *
1.ViewSat2000
2.Computer
3.Null Modem Cable
4.Tv
5.Installed Dish with Switch (DiSEqC)
Configuration.
Sat 110=Echostar8,10 on Port 1. Sat 119=Echostar 7 on Port 2

NOTE: You do not need the DiSEqC switch installed if your using DP LNB.
You can run direct from the LNB to the receiver- viewsat can handle the switching, but a few setting will be different-- If I get time I will find them and post here.

6.ViewSat-All-In-One.rar

Everything is current as of this posting, no other files will be needed they are all in this zip. Now see, I save you a couple of hours of looking --- Right???

7.A little bit of Think for yourself skill.(Most important)

************************************************** **

1.Find your Null Modem cable, and connect it to your Viewsat, and the Com1 Port on your computer.(May require Reboot)
* Leave the ViewSat Unplugged.

2.Unzip Apt-Get's ViewSat-All-In-1.zip and save the files to your computer
*(ie. My Documents/Viewsat)

3.Open the program "Loader2"
4.Click "Open Files"
5.Go to the directory where you saved the files and elect "V.1069PGM"
*(This file name will Change with new versions. Just make sure its the .PGM file)

6.Repeat these steps for the "satinfo.sat". file
7.You will notice that you have the 2 files populated in the Loader2 program.
8.Click Pc->STB then Plug In your Viewsat power.
(You should see the Files loading properly)
9.Once it is completed, The program will say its done. Now wait for the Viewsat to say "End" on the front display.

NOTE: If you encounter an error while writing , just do them one at a time instead of both at once-- I had to with mine. Unplug each time as noted above. Be sure and wait for "END" on each file.

10.Power off your Viewsat.
11.Hit the "clear" button in the loader2 program, and it will remove the files from the list.
12.Connect your ViewSat to your TV, and Enjoy.
13.Read Your User Manual.

** If you still get no picture, Check your port settings for the switch, and make sure your using the current version of the files.

***Once you have done this, you will only need to load a new .PGM when evernts require one.

IMPORTANT

NEVER, EVER LOAD A CHANNEL LIST FILE (.CHA) ON YOUR VIEWSAT. DON'T DO IT. I CAN'T MAKE THIS ANY MORE CLEAR.

Common User Problems w/ ViewSat by teach

1. The ONLY file needing transfer TO the STB is the "V69.pgm"--as of Oct 6, 2005.

2. "satinfo.sat" file, if used and when transferred to the STB, does not transfer 100%. I have had all folks I've helped have at least 4 or 5 missing TP's from the E6,8 missing. For CONUS USA, there should be 21 TP's for E*7 and 29 TP's for E6,8 in order to have all available TP's tested for viewable channels.

If you choose to use a satinfo.sat file, remember that you are using a file made up by someone who may/may NOT live in the same geographical area of CONUS as you and their chosen TP's may/may NOT be right for you!

3. 2. COMM PORT is either not established by the computer's BIOS or is configured to a port that is NOT the "standard" Comm Port 1 used by most of the FTA software.

4. Turning "OFF" the STB (unplug-older or "OFF" Platinum) before the STB front panel displays "0 0 0 0". After the computer transfers data TO the STB, the STB will display "DONE" and then 10 to 15 seconds LATER, after processing the data, the display changes to "0 0 0 0". Failure to wait for the all ZERO display interrupts the STB's processing of the data transferred. Interrupting the data processing may leave the STB w/ a corrupted file and unuseable--meaing a trip to the factory for repairs.

5. Failing to use the DiSEqC switch supplied by the vendor. Numerous posts tell of using other STB's which are replaced by the ViewSat. Then, the user experiences channel reception problems. Frequently, the problems are solved by replacing the existing DiSEqC switch w/ the new one provided by the vendor. They don't send the new switch for their health; it's costs the vendor $$$--so use it and avoid potential problems.

6. Failing to use the NULL MODEM cable supplied by the vendor. Other STB's use a "straight through" cable; ViewSat uses a NULL MODEM cable.

What's the difference?

Straight through serial cable: (called, dah, "straight through")
Has 9 pins, but only these are required:
pin 2 to pin 2
pin 3 to pin 3
pin 5 to pin 5

NULL MODEM cable: (called a "twisted pair")--USED FOR VIEWSAT!!!
Has 9 pins, but only these are required:
pin 2 to pin 3
pin 3 to pin 2
pin 5 to pin 5

If one follows "common sense" and uses the supplied equipment, guides and exercises ordinary care and caution, setup should be a painless and easy experience.

Using the above ideas SHOULD reduce significant problems, and the resulting questions, by users.

G/L and enjoy!

This section is incorrect. It should now read:

1. The ONLY file needing transfer TO the STB is the "V.1072.PGM"--as of May 11, 2006 as long as 110 and 119 are the only satellites chosen. If you want other birds a satinfo file must also be loaded. The "Teach" satinfo and "Royal" satinfo files are good working files.
2. The factory satinfo file is good ONLY for 110 and 119. It is not accurate for other satellites. Load the appropraite Teach or Royal satinfo file for your setup.

Ok in case this might help out a couple of people that still can't get the channels or pictures to work. I'm new at this but since I got mine working maybe I can help someone else out.

Try it this way if you can't get it to work any other way. As stated in another post in this thread, I went by this,

How To Enter Keys Manually In Your Viewsat

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

1. Menu
2.Installation
3.Enter Pin
4.Code
5.Nagra
6.Left 3 times and u will see Dish

Keys are the following

F1-A
F2-B
F3-C
F4-D
Button below 9 (Circle Arrow) is E
Text button is F

Only thing is it stated 09 wrong when it said for the second key, use both 08 and 09 for the first key and than use 88 and 99 for the second key.

Also make sure you leave 08, 09 and 88 and 99 there just change the numbers/letters after those numbers.

Also where it says text button is F for my remote that was the help button.

Here's what I have for the first key - E8 70 B0 0A 8E 0A 3D C5 F3 59 C3 5F 1A DA 19 5C
And this one for the second key - 71 9C 60 71 04 C1 39 AE 88 FF F0 5E D2 4C F3 FC

Everything seems to be working fine for me.

I'm not sure only thing I can say is try it the exact way that I said above (if you haven't already) and if that doesn't help than I'm not sure but hopefully someone else will be able to help you out.

Also my Viewsat is a platinum not an extreme but I don't think that would matter much but I could be wrong.

I also have turned on autoroll and mine seems to work fine with autoroll on or off.

Problems keeeping freq TP settings on echo 119
I have a ViewSat Extreme configured with the latest PGM from 5/24 and the autoroll worked perfectly but I cannot save my freq TP settings. Can you help me?

I configured both satellites 110 y 119 with a Freq TP of 12224 and 12239 and then scanned for the channels.
Got PPV, premium channels, locals, etc, but no music channels: CD, Sirius, etc.

I went back and check the settings on my Echo 7 119 and to my surprise the TP freq changed back to 12224 with a very week(red) signal.
I changed it back to 12239, rescanned , saved changes...but freq TP kept changing back to 12224
I am using a diseqc switch. I am not sure of my LNB type(I set it up as Universal)

are you getting all the ppv if so can say what files you loaed in?

borinquenatl

I loaded the DBPSW_060524A.PGM not the sat and cha files.
Yes ,I am getting ALL the PPV channels.

For some reason the OS is not keeping my TP freq setting to the one I selected. I cannot use 12224 because I get a very weak signal.

Is this a firmware problem? I have not upgraded the box yet. Its brand new.

With a Xtreme and after you upload the working bin, by default the AutoRoll and Tp AutoRoll are ON or OFF, double check that, because usually takes about 10 minutes to get the picture. If you still do not have picture, you have another problem.

I am moving my VS2000 Extreme to my vacation house for awhile, about 800 miles away. Do I need to do anything to my reciever? IE reprogram it. Or can I just hook it all up and I am good to go, without any software changes.

Thanks

you may need to do a blind scan again to pick up some of the locals, but I think that's about it.
