Pantec To Pansat- HOW TO
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Since so many people seem to have a problem using a Pansat bin on their Pantec, here's the way to do it so that it works flawlessly.
This guide assumes you have already aimed your dish(es) at the sats you want to receive.
PANTEC MX
The MX comes either preflashed with the Pansat factory bin or with no bin loaded at all. There is no need to run application Mnp.exe.
This Guide is for a "Basic Setup" - 18" DAVE dish, ONE DAVE LNB, ONE Satellite.
For other dish's, Different LNB's (FTA LINEAR) (and LNB's with switches built in), switches and multiple LNB's/Satellites, there is a little more to it than this Guide, use the search function for your set up instructions.
If you have a DishPro500 setup which has a built in switch at the LNB's you will have to do more work to get it running. You will have to use special Channel bin files that include freq's to demultiplex the Stacked signal you get from this type of Dish.
Do a search for Dishpro on this Site.
Setting up this receiver for Dish/BEV is not hard at all! You MUST follow the instructions. They MUST be followed IN ORDER.
If you don't know what each one does and or not sure if you have done it correctly you CANNOT just go on to the next step and expect things to work out. IT WILL NOT WORK!
1. Flash your Pantec MX with latest Pansat 2500 bin file, 245 if ya want to have the auto roll function if using an older bin than 245 for changing to latest keyssee step 6 (This MUST BE DONE to DESCRAMBLE the Dishnet Nagravision1 signal). Use a RS232 Serial Straight Through Cable and Com Port 1 on your computer. Use the flash utility uploader Al7BAR STB Updater - NO STB Model Name Required. Download the bin to the receiver from you computer as a "Flash ROM File". DO NOT, I repeat, DO NOT DOWNLOAD IT AS A "BOOT FILE" or you will fry your receiver and you will be finished with it and these instructions!
Make sure your Computer says "Download Complete", not just 100%. If you don't get "Download Complete" you have NOT completed the Flash! WAIT WAIT WAIT....for your Computer to say "Download Complete" and the receiver should re-boot itself. If this has not happened, you have not flashed successfully. Do NOT go further!
2. Download a channel list or scan for channels. It is up to you to decide what is best for you.
If you decide to use a downloaded channel list, make certain that all switch settings match what you have set up! (If you only have 1 dish with 1 lnb hooked up, be certain that all DISEQ settings are set to off. if you are using a switch to hook up 2 lnb's, settings must match.
If you decide to scan for sats, do the following:
In antenna setup, select satellite you want (birds E8.6 at 110W and E7 at 119W are the Dishnet birds), select transponder #11 for bird 110 (Echo 8.6) or #17 for bird 119 (Echo 7) (whichever you are looking for). (This MUST be done because we know that these transponders actually are transmitting now). If you get no quality level on these transponders, try others before giving up. Not all transponders are transmitting all the time. MAKE SURE THE CABLE IS PLUGGED INTO THE "IF INPUT" PORT ON THE BACK OF THE RECEIVER! Plug the other end directly into the LNB on your Dish.
3. Still in antenna setup set LNB to "Standard" and freq to 11250. (This MUST be done to receive a QUALITY signal from the Satellite).
4. Still in antenna setup, confirm that you have a good signal, watching the QUALITY meter at the bottom of the screen. Get this as HIGH as possible. (This MUST be done before trying to do #5). Keep in mind that just because you told the receiver you are looking for sat 110 (or whatever sat you are trying to scan), it does not know the difference in the signal it receives! Your receiver will show a quality level from ANY satellite that you actually have your dish pointed at.
5. Scan (ALL) for channels. (This will load the channel list from ALL transponders transmitting on the satellite to your receiver). At the completion of this scan you will have channels showing in your channel list. The ones with "$" are the ones that are scrambled channels. All the others with just names are "Ghost Channels" and can be deleted later on.
6. Go to parental control and at the bottom of the screen you should see "Second PIN" available. Enter "0000" and it will take you to a screen where you can turn the EMU ON and SET DEFAULT KEYS ON. Be sure that the keys are the latest available. If uncertain, read the sticky on PANTEC KEY CHANGE. This cannot be done until you have channels in your receiver. Just turn EMU ON and Set Default Keys and hit OK. Exit out of the menu and...........

Pantec to Fortec- HOW TO
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Want to make your Pantec a Fortec, here's how....
If your receiver is brand new and right out of the box, please read on. Otherwise, skip down to section 2. Download the zip file "Pantec.zip" and unzip the files to a place that you will remember (Desktop). You must first flash your Pantec to act as a FTA receiver.
1. With your receiver plugged in and the switch on the back set to "OFF", open the folder Pantec Uploader and open the application Mnp.exe.
2. Click on "Update Program Now" and select the only file in the folder "fta".
3. Now, set the switch on the back of the receiver to ON and shortly after you will see the programming process has started in the Mnp application.
4. Close Mnp when complete as the other programs will not be able to run as Mnp "hogs" the COM port.
Now, let's flash the receiver to act like a Fortec Lifetime Ultra
Section 2
You will need AN UPDATED BIN
Now, to programming:
1. Make sure the switch on the back of the receiver is set to ON and that the time is showing on the front display
2. In your Pansat2500a file, open the application "2300_2500_1500 Downloader".
3. Set the STB Model to "Al7bar FTA" without quotations
4. Click BIN File and select the bin which is attached here.
5. Click Download
When complete, the receiver will power off then back on and should show "ON" on the front display.
Done!

When you go to put your keys in at 00, Stay on 00 and with your arrow on the remote go to the right 2 times and see if nag2 shows up and put in keys, Go back up to 00 and over 1 more time to put in the other set. Sometimes this work's. And you will need the newest program for this box.
